Starting with the positive: amazing location, gorgeous view from the terrace, extensive menu with many amazing options, and friendly, helpful staff. The reason for the three stars: I am a pretty decent home cook, and make my own eggs Benedict fairly regularly, and I couldn't help but think I make them better. The recipe felt formulaic and obviously was chosen for volume and to save prep time. Specifically, they pureed the avocado instead of cutting it, and it pretty clearly was not fresh and came out of a jar. That made the texture as well as the taste "off" - bland, boring, like baby food. The egg was not properly poached, and the yolk was set. You didn't get the satisfaction of watching the yolk ooze out, or the joy of mopping it up with the English muffin. The Hollandaise was equally bland, as it lacked an acid component, so there was none of the sharpness that either lemon or vinegar brings. All in all, not a totally disappointing experience, but if I went back I'd explore the rest of the menu. Granted, eggs bennie is an expensive dish to make, and cost-cutting often requires cutting corners on fresh ingredients. Personally, though, I'd rather pay a higher price for a better experience. Given the location is a tourist mecca, you'd like they would consider that tourists generally are looking for an experience and are happy to pay a bit more for that. Chain restaurants really need to be careful that their menu stays true to the cuisine and doesn't become just another bland option in a sea of options - or else they will start to lose...
Read moreAwful. Maybe too many tourists and they don’t expect any return customers. We ordered Eggs Benedict and blueberry waffle for breakfast. They offered me to choose grilled potatoes or French fries to go with the Eggs Benedict. The grilled potatoes was the saltiest and softest form of potato I had ever put in my mouth. After the first bite, I told the waiter that the flavours are not right and asked for the potatoes to be replaced. He said the flavours can’t be changed in a rough manner. The sorry was not sincere at all. So, I just finished the Eggs Benedict which tasted normal but not impressive. The blueberry waffle was another disappointment. The waffle was poured over blueberry sauce and sweetened blueberries on top when served. However, the blueberry sauce went straight into the centre of the waffle so the texture was like a shoe sole. The waiters don’t seem to pass on customer feedback to the kitchen and stayed away from our table. Even though there long queues in other branches the food is overrated. Literally just some ‘eggs n some not very...
Read moreExcellent food and excellent service. You know a place is good when there's a line wrapped around the block just to eat here. Parking can be tricky so plan ahead. The longest I waited in line was about an hour, but the view of the ocean and overhead flying seabirds takes your mind off the wait unless it is cold outside. Once inside, the food is ssssooooo very worth it that you forget the journey to get inside. I always get Loco Moco or Pancakes. Pancakes are out of this world. Hawaiian style pancakes with mile-high whipped cream accented with shaved macadamian nuts. If you are a coconut fan, I highly recommend the coconut syrup on the pancakes. If you haven't been here, what are your waiting for? Live life,...
