Made reservations here online for dinner and chose the ยฅ4950 set meal with sashimi, 5 different skewers and the regional motsunabe hotpot.
Enjoyed all of the food here! The green pea croquette skewer was really good and all of the meats were really juicy and tender, even the chicken breasts. The giblets in the hotpot were on the fatty side which is not to our taste as we usually eat leaner meats but the broth of the hotpot was really really good. The sesame pudding was soo gooddd. It was so smooth and creamy and you could really taste the sesame flavor.
The portions were really big. We would have chosen the rice porridge with cheese in the end but knew we wouldn't be able to finish it so we chose the noodles instead which was good too.
Service was very nice. One of the chefs spoke English and made an effort to make us feel welcome. When we told him we were from Canada, he very kindly brought us two ice waters.
Vibe is lively. Not too smokey either considering we sat right in front of the cooking area. Ventilation is great.
Pricing is very affordable. Definitely would recommend others to come and would revisit...
ย ย ย Read moreSo disappointed after eating here many times (at the original location near Hakata Station). This was the worst meal of our trip. The cooks do not know what they are doing. Their signature mentaiko tempura was undercooked so not crispy at all and really mushy. Other dishes were heavily oversauced and some were cooked far too long to the point of being really tough. I would give it 3-4 stars but the inexcusable part was that they charged us 1600 yen for a โprivate roomโ that we did not request. Itโs just where they sat us (next to a couple with a screaming baby). I am white but can read Japanese. I told them I wouldnโt pay for it and they took it off the bill. Thatโs nice but anyone that canโt read Japanese would have gotten scammed by them. Bad food is one bring but scamming customers is...
ย ย ย Read moreWe would usually dine at their other shop but decided to try this place as it was just 10 minutes from our hotel and we could also make reservations online.
The place was nicely appointed and staff were friendly. It was quite casual dining. We ordered items like grilled meatballs, chicken wings, shiitake mushrooms, pork belly and tofu dessert.
Service was good, especially by the main chef/griller, but they did make several mistakes in our orders, like giving us chicken gizzards instead of chicken skin, and also forgetting our shiitake etc.
Do note the 750 yen beers come in huge bottles, which can be a lot if you are the on,y drinker. They also have a wide variety of sodas and highballs with plum etc.
Dinner for two was just...
