Unagi Toku — Restaurant in Fukuoka

Went to an up class looking restaurant looking for eel. Chanced upon unagi toku. Atmosphere was well done with piped slow music.

Service wise was left to be desired. I always expected Japanese service to be impeccable. However this proved me wrong. Possible due to part timers. Not really attentive to the needs of customers or setting the table for that matter.

Food wise, it was average. Did not see fresh eel pepper prepared upon order as mentioned in their menu… Everything came out of the fridge, large pot… For an up class restaurant if there is nothing to show, don’t….. I expected better…. not so for this one...

The food is minimally okay but the price is maximally not okay! I mean, come on, I can find a similar place serving similar food in Fukuoka but with half of the price they charge. 9000 yen for two eel dinner sets and one small beer was insane! The white eel’s texture was inexplicably weird. It tasted almost flakey without the firm texture eel should have! Just being in a prime location didn’t justify how exorbitant...

Eel rice box specialist restaurant. Steamed then grilled unagi is done very well with traditional sauce. Tasted quite good even for none eel eaters.
