Yorozu — Restaurant in Fukuoka

Tourists must beware of this place. I followed the website rules. Pre booked to save the 10% booking fee. Come before 6 and no need to pay ¥1000. Despite all that, we got a big surprise when paying the bill. They don’t show itemized receipts and just wrote on paper how much you needed to pay. No English menu but we google translated. They show cocktail sets for ¥1980 but failed to mention some cocktails you need to add 500 to 700 etc on the menu unlike the teas. I don’t mind paying more as the dessert we had was nice but I don’t enjoy being misled like this to end up paying at around 3800 yen per cocktail. We expected 1980 yen plus tax or service fee but to see it jump to 3800 which was almost double of our initial expectations! I wonder if they actually charged me a reservation fee or other service fees, but they couldn’t explain to us. Left feeling bad about the place and did not go to any other bar the whole trip thanks to Yorozu. Bad for Tourism. Take note Japan Tourism board. My advice for Yorozu would be to be clear with your charges on the menu and to actually have itemized receipts so we know what we are paying for rather than just a handwritten total. When I get there, it was not full at all, still have plenty more seats, and i walk in and said I don’t have reservation, they didn’t even mention anything, and just said I could come in and have a seat in the bar table. I ordered a tea set menu, and beyond that, I chosen one tea with extra cost, like 500yen. The tea set just one tea section, they boiled water and give me 3 cups of tea, that’s all. It comes with one piece of strawberry, one wagashi, one bite size of date, and couple one bit beans and dry fruit, that’s all they have in the tea set. This set is about 5500 yen. In the middle, I was told I have to pay table fee, 1000yen. But they also charged 10% service fee at the same time. In the end, the bill is such confusing, total Is like more than 7200 yen. It’s kind like i paid tax, over tax and over tax again again again. Coz I’m confused about the bill, and they even didn’t provide me a clear receipt??? I’m asking for a receipt, they just show me the hand written note without any annotation?? EXTRA confused! Don't let the other negative comments dissuade you from coming. Hosted with the kindest patience for my lack of Japanese. Apparently, it's possible to get charged extra on top of the tasting. That makes sense considering she carries very high end teas that I could understand increasing the base price. Tasty little bites. I look forward to trying more teas in her space.
