I went on a Sunday at around 215pm. It wasn’t that busy and I waited around 25mins for a table. I was alone though. You will need to head to the 2nd level and use the iPad outside to reserve a table according to the number of people you have and get a queue number and physical ticket. The problem arises if you don’t speak Japanese. The server will come out and manually call out the queue numbers and if you do not understand at all, it can be quite frustrating. There is not signboard for the current queue numbers as well. So the only way is to scan the QR code on your ticket to see how far along in the queue you are and then when it’s near your number you have to physically show your ticket to the server shouting the queue number in the hopes that she will seat you. Once your table is ready and u can order, the food takes about 3-5mins to arrive. chawanmushi takes about 15mins. Foodwise the taste is average I feel. It taste just like any other good unagi place around japan or even in Japanese restaurants around the world. The only difference is that the eel probably taste abit more smoky and charred. The special secret dipping sauce isn’t something to shout about as well as it was pretty standard and average. It isn’t bad, but it isn’t overwhelming awesome as well. Just…. Good and average.

The grilled unagi lives up to the hype and #1 TripAdvisor rating for Fukuoka restaurants. I would recommend sticking to the standard unagi with rice (5* for sure) instead of the kaiseki option (3*, hence overall 4*). We had opted for a 8 course meal (which included 4 slices of unagi in the lacquer set), but frankly, the additional small dishes were completely unmemorable and not worth the extra 3000¥ at all in my opinion. The courses were also very rushed in presentation, the servers brought the next dish without waiting for us to finish the dish we were still eating. And they didn't bother to clear empty dishes accumulating on the table until we asked them to. I would recommend avoiding the carp sashimi altogether, it wasn't very tasty, and I was appalled that I had to pick out bones in every slice !! The omelette slice with unagi was ok, but not especially memorable. The fried unagi with pickled veg was not too bad, probably the best of the additional dishes. But the grilled unagi with rice made up for everything. My daughter loved it so much she kept asking for more. We would come back to eat the standard unagi rice set. We showed up early at 5pm on Thursday and there was no wait for a table at all.

It’s good if you like your Unagi very grilled towards more solid/crispy in texture. I prefer the soft type that melts in your mouth and skin will peel off in your chopsticks. This is a 1800+ year joint and many people frequent here. This is a popular joint so English menu is available. Locations: A 3 storey block, take the lift/stairs to second floor. Reservations: Once you reach, write your name and wait for your call. I am around the 6th and takes about 20mins. Queue move very fast. The staff will ask you which language of menu you need. Food: 1. Ordered the omelette, a bit sweet but delicious Unagi; 2. The vinegar Unagi is nice but I find it grilled a tad too Long resulting in very hard texture; 3. Ordered the 5 piece deluxe and the rice have no sauce. Instead, the sauce is provided separately. The Unagi is quite sweet and I find there is no need to put sauce on the rice. Btw, add the san-sho powder! It’s nice. Food arrives pretty quickly and you should be done in less than an hour from queue to pay. Payment: Only cash.

The Mog Champ sends his regards. This was my first time having Unagi in my 5 week Japan trip and I wouldn't have settled for anything cheap or low quality. Yoshizuka Unagi definitely fit that criteria of mine. I waited around 30 minutes after grabbing a ticket and thankfully was also able to monitor the queue online as well. I was only a solo eater so the wait wasn't that bad. After ordering a deluxe Unagi set (which had a bigger serving of Unagi) it was a short preparation by the staff and I didn't need to wait that long for the food too thankfully as I was quite hungry. Taking that first bite into the eel was simply heavenly as it's one of my favourite foods to have. It was definitely worth both the wait and the price, the interior was also clean so the environment felt luxurious. Thank you for the food Yoshizuka Unagi! It was amazing. Mogliest Regards, Your Mog Champ

This restaurant opens at 10:30 but when I arrived at 10:45 and get my number, there is already a one hour wait, so I give up. I came back on 5 p.m., only waited for 10 mins, which is great. I ordered a four-piece unagi don. When I open my box, I was attacked by the rice first. They look shiny and not mushy, but each piece of rice seems to be stick together but not sticky at all. For someone who doesn’t usually eat rice like me, their rice gives me a “rice must be delicious vibe”. The unagi is cooked perfectly. It has the juiciest texture yet the skin remains crispy. It’s not too salty, not too sweet, but flavorful and savory. I regret did not order the six-piece combo. By far the best grilled unagi I have tasted, and would definitely return once visiting Fukuoka again.
