It pains me to write this, because the staff was great, but honestly it wouldn’t be fair to customers who are coming here during the summer time expecting a 4.9/5 star establishment. Electrique, as its name states, left us shocked, and not in a good way. I can overlook a lot of things when a meal doesn’t meet expectations, but I can’t give this establishment anywhere close to 5 stars. I’m not sure where the rave reviews are coming from, but I’d have to say the meal fell very short and was disappointing at best. We came to have a nice dinner but received what seemed like reheated shrimp and mussels with wilted herbs, alongside a tasting appetizer plate that lacked a theme, identity, or flavor. There were shredded balsamic carrots with a sad, soggy piece of melted Parmesan cheese over the top, tasteless crab tartar, chicken liver pate on a stale piece of bread, next to a reheated bacon quiche. The lamb chops were cooked well done, with cold mashed potatoes and three small chip-like heated corn puffs(?). The swordfish dish was also over cooked, but the apricot sauce was tasty. It was served with a dry, stale baguette. Not a single item we ate was anywhere close to what any other reviewer made it seem. Overall a disappointing meal in such a beautiful place like Hakuba. The staff however, was very sweet and accommodating, the people working here are the redeeming quality of the restaurant and we’d give it another shot; maybe the food quality is better during the winter season when the locale is more frequented. I didn’t have the heart to tell the kind waitress about our true thoughts during the meal, we smiled and cleaned our plates. We arrived later in the evening on a Saturday night, which may have been the reason for the poor experience, but nonetheless, it was unexpected for a country like Japan, and must...
Read moreThis place is sick! Must go to place if you're in Hakuba. Went almost every night that were in Hakuba. Note that Latern and Electrique sort of join up and have this mad shared hangout area/chill zone/lobby. The drinks at Electrique are seriously great, great range, good price, and great sevice. Hands down my favourite drink has to be the "butter beer", trust me just try it. So good!
Food was also quite good, but not a lot to choose from. Expect it to be more like bar food than actual restaurant food. Better off going to Lantern next door if you're after that experience. But still satisfying.
There's also a pool table, fusbal table, chess and checkers table for afterwards. Great excuses to stick around for some fun. From the atmosphere, to the decor, to the service, and the choice of music it's top notch in my books. Live music is also played on certain nights
Trust me this place is a must go to in Hakuba. Go for the drinks and go for the...
Read moreCame here for dinner on a winter Thursday night.
This is a new hotel and restaurant. The first awesome thing about this place is the ambience - there is a pool table on one side, a live guitar playing on the other, and kids jumping around in the middle. A great place for families.
The service was great, but a touch slow as they were VERY busy.
The food is absolutely excellent. The fillet mignon was off the charts. I ordered the crepe for my son and he adored it. Not a cheap eat, but...
