⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Our stay at Le Bocage in Ecoland Hakuba was truly a dream come true! From the moment we were greeted by their friendly driver at the train station, we felt like we had stepped into a winter fairy tale. As we walked to our apartment, the snow-covered streets and picturesque surroundings made everything feel magical.
Le Bocage is perfectly tucked away just off the Main Street, offering a peaceful, charming escape with loads of character. We booked a one-bedroom apartment for my husband, our two daughters (aged 12 and 8), and me. The ground-level apartment was ideal—while we relaxed in the warmth of our cozy space, the girls had a blast building snow forts and igloos right outside our door.
The apartment was spacious and thoughtfully designed. The main bedroom was generously sized with a large wardrobe, drawers, and two very comfortable single beds (which we pushed together for a cozy night’s sleep). The girls were perfectly content on the pull-out sofa that converted into a queen bed. Having a fully equipped kitchen was a game-changer—Ecoland isn’t known for takeaway options, and after a long day on the slopes, the last thing you want to do is go out again. The kitchen came with a fridge, microwave, mini grill, stovetop, and all the necessary utensils, making it easy to prepare meals. Plus, there’s a supermarket nearby, and a fantastic convenience store with ready-made meals just a 5-minute walk away!
The location couldn’t be better. We were only steps from the Main Street, where a free shuttle whisked us away to the slopes. After a long day on the mountain, it was wonderful to return to the apartment and make use of the excellent ski drying room with racks for boots and gear. The apartment also had a washer and dryer—perfect for drying out after wet days in the snow. And let’s not forget the vending machine stocked with delicious hot chocolate, the perfect way to warm up before heading out for a day on the slopes!
The cherry on top was the incredible staff. As we prepared to leave, the team at Le Bocage arranged for Black Cat to pick up our luggage and send it to the airport for just $70 AUD. This small service made a huge difference—it meant we could travel without worrying about carrying around 40kg of luggage for the rest of our journey.
I honestly cannot recommend Le Bocage highly enough. The combination of comfortable rooms, fantastic location, top-notch facilities, and exceptional service made our stay unforgettable. It was a perfect, stress-free family vacation, and we can’t wait to return. Thank you, Le Bocage, for making our white Christmas the most memorable one...
Read moreThe chalet is actually pretty nice and well equipped with a living room, a good tv, a fridge, and a mini kitchen. The main issue is that the location is quite far out and there are no buses nearby. The nearest one is Happo Bus Terminal and it's 1.5km away, or you can walk 2.1km from Hakuba Station. If you drive, that's probably a non-issue.If you live on the first floor, you'll also constantly hear stomping footsteps from the occupants on the second floor, i.e. the ceilings are extremely thin.On our trip there, one of us fell sick and I requested an early check-out by a day. While hosts are not required to oblige, there is unfortunately a lack of compassion to reject us in this manner. It wasn't even a last minute request, I've given ample time such that the host might accept another booking. This leads me to communication - which is severely lacking. When I booked this a month ago, I submitted a request for an early check-in but was only told about it not being possible less than a day before. I could've made more plans to shift my timings later if that was communicated earlier. Furthermore, while rejecting early check-in is the host's prerogative, it would be great if rejection reasons were provided. All I got was a notification from Trip.com that it was "unfortunately rejected". Overall, potentially a great place for a drive out, but if you don't drive it's probably not amazing. Also, you'll be expected to stay throughout - if you have emergencies, expect no compassion from the...
Read moreWe stayed here for a week, green season (July). Weather was so hot, I didn’t research well and thought there’s also regular bus around town during summer. Turns out bus only available winter time. So we always either walk or took taxi whenever we had to go out of the hotel. First room that was booked for us was on the 2nd floor, room was really nice, but the stairs are just too steeped esp with our luggage. Not wheelchair accessible at all. Had to request to transfer to ground floor, lucky enough to have a room available then. Most of the restaurants nearby were close and only open I think during night time. Good thing room was equipped with cooktop and we’re able to cook. Nearest bus station Happo Bus Terminal was bout 20mins walk, supermarket (Big) 15-20mins. 7/11 -20mins. Hakuba town is vey peaceful, you can walk around and enjoy the scenery but make sure you bring a hat it can be very hot and an umbrella because it may rain anytime of the day. There’s a coin laundry wash and dry for ¥300 yen in the hotel, no staff at the hotel everything was communicated thru email, I booked thru booking.com. Taxi numbers written at the desk inside the dry room,...
