I had the pleasure of dining at Sushi Sakai, and it was nothing short of extraordinary. This newly opened high-end sushi restaurant in Hakuba is a true gem, offering an unparalleled omakase experience in the heart of the mountains.
From the moment we arrived, the ambiance was elegant yet intimate, blending modern sophistication with traditional Japanese craftsmanship. The counter seating allowed us to watch the chef’s artistry up close, making the experience even more special.
Every piece of sushi was a masterpiece—impeccably fresh, beautifully presented, and perfectly balanced. The selection of seafood, sourced from the finest markets in Japan, was outstanding. Highlights included the buttery toro, rich and creamy uni, and the delicately seared nodoguro. The rice was seasoned to perfection, enhancing the natural flavors of each ingredient.
The service was just as remarkable. The staff were warm, knowledgeable, and attentive, ensuring that every detail was taken care of. The sake pairing was expertly curated, complementing each course beautifully.

The staff was also really amazing, so comforting and kind and they made the whole experience super fun and lovely.
Each bite had an abundant amount of quality fish we left full and so content.
