Highly recommend this Izakaya place for both the delicious food and the incredibly welcoming atmosphere. They had an English menu for us tourists, but the “specials” menu written on a whiteboard has a dozen or so other interesting options. My wife is a pescatarian, and she had plenty to choose from. Highlights for us include the pork belly with raw moromi (miso flavor), the fish of the day (rare octopus with wasabi), and the sweet and spicy burdock root.
I suppose this is also food-related, but we somehow got into a Google-translate conversation about the difference between American and Japanese mayonnaise. The owner whipped out a bottle of Japanese mayonnaise and gave us some broccolini to dip in it. He seemed very passionate about his food!

The staff are incredibly friendly and we went by their recommendation, and were served some delicious food. They have an English menu, although their specials board is in Japanese, they suggested using Google Translate and were able to help us figure out what was what. We had a nice chat with the staff and some local patrons, and were able to fill in the gaps in the conversation with Google translate.
