During our short stop in Hiroshima we were very lucky to choose “Kitchen Minot” as our dinner spot! It is impossible not to choose this place if you stop in Hiroshima! The extreme friendliness of the owner (who runs everything by himself, speaks very good English and, from today, also Italian), his jokes, the quality of his excellent food, his skills in the kitchen, the freshness of his products, the environment that makes you feel at home... All this and much more make this place a true treasure among the many restaurants in Japan. We return home with the best culinary - and human - experience of our trip! From your Italian friend with the “Calamaro” tattoo!

- Be prepared for a long wait for food during dinner time, as it’s basically one person handling most of the things. - The service is great. - The chicken, salmon salad, and the three-appetizer set were all delicious. - But the beef, priced at 1550 yen, only came with six thin slices. It would’ve been fine if it tasted good, but it was severely overcooked. Since we were sitting at the bar, we could see the beef being cooked for a long time. The chef was clearly overwhelmed and must have noticed it was overcooked but still plated it with the garnishes and served it. A bit disappointing.

Kitchen minot was an absolute delight. The restaurant itself was small and quaint, but lively with the music, Japanese shows and the owner/chef who was talkative and included the regulars in conversation with me (as a solo diner). The food was delicious and one of the plates I ordered (oysters in garlic and butter) was my favorite bite of the entire trip! My chicken dish was also amazing. Just ask him what he recommends based on what season you visit and you won’t be disappointed! Thank you for your hospitality, friendliness and delicious food!
