Raku Beer — Restaurant in Hiroshima

I think if we'd only had beers this would be a 5 star review for sure. The place had one large table full when we arrived and one guy sitting at the counter. We placed our beer orders, the staff was very knowledgeable about their selection. The table behind us had this great looking appetizer dishes, we decided to order the same. Well it isn't what we got at all. The chicken wings we received were about the size of my pinky finger. With hardly and meat (¥750 ~5 wings) we got a salad (¥500) large mix of lettuces with a lot of salt and minimal dressing, weird, but ok and then an appetizer combo which was a small plate with very small portions of a few different apps, like 2 slices (about the size of a 500 yen coin) of cheese, and small piece of shredded carrots, cabbage and potato salad. When ordering we pointed at the table which also had lots of food of it and explained we wanted the appetizer plate they had. Our portion sizes were such a joke and nothing to what they received. It's just disappointed to spend so much money on a meal and receive such small portions. I'm not sure if it was a language barrier or what but I felt like we were getting the short end...

Nice place with about 13taps when I visited. Had imperial stout, this version is not too sweet, also had a brown ale. Both beer are good and reasonable price for craft beer. Staffs are also friendly too. Will definitely be back for more beer.

2nd Somehow I didn't realize but I think it was like a closed party for the owner birthday? But was still welcomed in. Out of imperial stout so had ALT and wheat beer. Dark beer is still my style ALT is good and balanced. The wheat is not really my kind of beer but still good with a little fruity taste. Was also given a free glass of dark ale from the celebration. Great beer - infinitely better than the standard mass produced lagers you find everywhere else. They have flights, so don't pass up the opportunity to try lots of different beers! The menu is in English and Japanese, and they had an English speaker on staff. The atmosphere is modern and plain, but the beer is fantastic.
