Ramen Kabachiya — Restaurant in Hiroshima

Atmosphere is subjective. We love these local standing or counter only joints which are not your typical restaurant or cafe types. So, to us, this adds to the flavour. 2 things on the menu - ramen n mentai rice. Don't even ask... just say ramen or rice. The bowl comes piping hot and you can add the condiment of pickled vegetable if you like. The broth is hearty and we slurped up every bit of it. I think the cook would be pleased. Hehe. The meat is soft and melty and the noodles al dente. The portion is a big bit for me, as a petite woman but i see the locals order sides of extra rice or noodles. After and exhausting all day mountain hike on nearby Miyojima Island my wife came across this shop about 4 minutes walk from Hiroshima Station on our way back to our hotel. WOW! There is almost no menu (or English). Then again, they sell one thing only. Ramen. Many ramen places have a whole THING around their products. Not this guy. Even without speaking, we came in, got 2 seats, were offered iced tea, and watched the proprietor work his magic. While I've had delicious noodles, tasty broth, and good chasiu, NEVER had the quality been this high across the board.
