It took us almost an hour wandering through the center of Hiroshima, and we couldn’t find a single restaurant willing to accept us as “the tourists”. Most of those restaurants were unwelcoming, not even kidding that they literally shooed us away, which left a very negative impression of the city’s hospitality. In the end, we gave up and returned to the train station planed to get back to Kyoto, where we finally found this spot.
The staff here were friendly and welcomed us in without hesitation. The place was full of locals, which felt reassuring, and the atmosphere was happy and lively. The food was excellent and worth the price: the shrimp tempura was huge, the chef’s special sushi assortment was creative and delicious, and the wagyu seared at the table was fantastic.
