Teranishi Coffee — Restaurant in Hiroshima

If you are in Hiroshima as a tourist, this place is an absolute must for breakfast. It's quite small, so if you're only 1 or 2 people you have a good chance of being able to grab a seat. But it's been here since 1978, and seems a local staple of the community, so it's worth it.

When I came solo, I was the only foreigner there but it felt really welcoming, like I was a guest in their home. I sat at the bar, the last available seat. The two gentlemen behind the bar counter working the kitchen were so friendly, even while they were so busy cooking and doing dishes for the whole restaurant. The service from the waiters was also awesome, very attentive, great service!

Always stunning toast made in retro toasters by polite and friendly staff in formal attire. The morning set with a mountain of cabbage salad is the best value at 800 yen. Possible to order meals without meat (ham) usually on salad if you’re vegetarian. Bread made on premises without artificial ingredients. It’s so popular that some patrons take a loaf home. They also roast own beans in signature blend. Everything is served in reusable, high quality containers, mugs & cups but unfortunately plastic straws still used in cold drinks. English menu. 松山から出張で来て、ホテルの近くにあったので朝来訪しました。

平日の朝8時からオープンしていて、オープン直後に伺ったのですが、既に満席近い状態でした。

モーニングセットは990円、支払いはおそらく現金のみです。 少し高いかなと思いましたが、出てきた食事を見てむしろお安いのではないかと思いました。 サラダは山盛りで、ドレッシングもなんだか手作り感のある味でした。 途中で足りなくなったらドレッシングは追加でかけてくれます。パンも分厚くてバターがしっかり染みていて、とても美味しかったです。

また、食事が出るまで時間があるので、と新聞か雑誌を勧めてくれました。 私（20代女性）が新聞を勧められる機会はなかなかないのですが、 私はとても新聞が好きで、毎日数紙を読み比べるぐらいなので、そんな気遣いがとても嬉しかったです。

コーヒーも香りが良くて、とても飲みやすかったです。 付属しているミルクもよくある脂っぽいミルクとは全然違ってすごく美味しかったです。

お店の方の気配りがとても細やかで、すごく良い一日のスタートになりました。 今週は出張だらけでとてもくたびれていたのですが、おかげで頑張れそうです。 また広島に来た際には必ず利用させていただきます。

I came here from Matsuyama on a business trip and visited this place in the morning because it was near my hotel.

They open at 8 AM on weekdays, and I visited just after opening, but it was already nearly full.

The breakfast set is 990 yen, and payment seems to be cash only.

I thought it was a bit expensive, but after seeing the food, I felt it was actually quite reasonable. The salad was piled high, and the dressing tasted homemade. If you run out of dressing, they’ll add more. The bread was thick, with butter thoroughly soaked in, and it was delicious.

While waiting for my meal, they kindly offered me a newspaper or magazine. It’s not often that I (a woman in her 20s) am recommended to read a newspaper, but I love newspapers and compare a few every day, so this thoughtful gesture made me really happy.

The coffee had a great aroma and was very smooth to drink. Even the accompanying milk was much tastier than the usual oily milk you get elsewhere.

The staff’s attention to detail was outstanding, and it made for a great start to my day. I’ve been exhausted from constant business trips this week, but thanks to this experience, I feel ready to keep going. I’ll definitely visit again the next time I come to Hiroshima.
