Me and my friends visited Japan last year and it was a fantastic experience, one of the highlights was visiting Hiroshima and eating at this cozy sushi bar. The night was quite magical, we went in not knowing what to expect and there was only one Japanese man eating inside, after seeing us struggling with the language barrier he kindly helped us order our food and so the night went on, He could speak english and was curious about us and he was also a regular at the restaurant, by the end of the night we became really good friends, the food and vibe was so good that we decided to come back another day, the chef was even kind enough to prepare special meals for us on our second visit since he knew we were coming. We stopped by not knowing what to expect and we’re warmly greeted by the couple that owns the restaurant. Since we didn’t know enough Japanese to communicate, he simply looked at us, smiled, and said “Sushi?” So we said yes and he went to work!
He prepared one of each of the fish he has in for the day. If I remember correctly, it was Tuna (o toro), Mackeral, Red Snapper, Eel (unagi), catfish, yellowtail, and salmon eggs (roe).

I appreciated the simplistic layout of the shop and the dishware presented. The food was like home and it was worth everything.
