BAR KELPIE — Restaurant in Kamakura

This place was absolutely amazing! My finance and I visited the Great Buddha and walked around and stumbled across this place. First off the ambiance is an old fashion feel with relaxing classical jazz music. The man behind the bar explained he only knew very little English but he knew just enough for us to communicate what kind of whiskey we liked so it worked out perfectly. He took pride in the drinks he made and had great recommendations! My fiancé asked him for his favorite and he said he likes peaty scotch (which was perfect because so does he) and I asked him for his recommendation of a rye. We both enjoyed his recommendations and found it crazy how he hand cut our cubes of ice as well as the sphere of ice! After we enjoyed those we asked for an old fashion and WOW! He took his time carefully crafty this and it was the best we’ve ever had and we drink whiskey and go to whiskey bars often back home. He freshly squeezed an orange carefully added in the whiskey, bourbon, bitters and everything else and carved our ice and boom; magic! With us have four drinks each a whiskey on the rocks and an old fashion is only set us back 5,400 yen which was very reasonable. I highly recommend you to come to place. This is a great whiskey bar!
