I visited this cafe with my daughter and sister during my trip to Kyoto because of the good rating. We walked in and we were the only customers with two workers. We asked for the receipt after we paid and “3 Korean women” was written on the receipt and scribbled out. We questioned why that was written on the receipt and the workers told us the owner keeps track of the customers for marketing purposes. The female worker gave us a new receipt and took the old one from us. I watched her as she ripped apart the receipt and threw it in the trash. If it was truly for marketing purposes it should be done privately amongst the staff and owner and the receipt should not have made it to our hands. While it is on the pricier side, the tranquil ambiance of the place makes it worth it. My husband and I quickly learned how busy Gion could be and it was really nice to be able to turn the corner and sit in a lowkey and peaceful place.
