As a coffee enthusiast, I was looking forward to this speciality store and my expectations were totally fulfilled! I ordered their most expensive coffee: Columbia El Division El Cidro and I have never had such a stunning coffee before. Sure it was also their most expensive! High acidity and I could clearly taste the the different fruit aromas! To my surprise, their coffee is not hand-brewed, but machine made Americano style. I didn’t buy their Columbia coffee beans though, because 9000 Yen for 100gr is a bit too expensive even for a coffee nerd like me! The atmosphere in the place is very calm, especially taking into account the popular tourist destination in this area. One funny thing: The staff did not understand my Japanese when I asked them whether the coffee was a „light roast“. At first I was disappointed, because I thought they didn’t know about coffee at all, but later I found out later that she was not Japanese! But she was very nice, pretty and elegant and that’s even more important! I am definitely coming back to this...
Read moreThe coffee and food were great, especially the competition lot batch, truly one of the most unique coffee experiences I’ve ever had. The desserts were presented elegantly, elaborate but not over the top and the flavours matched that profile. The wide selection of coffee beans leaves one stumped but the staff is more than willing to clear up any queries and provide recommendations. (I do however, heavily recommend the competition lot RC024 by Nector Lasso). Also, extra marks definitely have to be given to the service, we were attended to by Aki, who ensured that we had an outstanding experience from start to finish, you can really sense his earnest attitude and passion through his gestures and expressions, which round the experience off to excellence. The food was amazing and the service a tier above,...
Read moreI’ll be honest, after trying at least 10 of the “best” coffee places in Kyoto during my stay, this one fell incredibly short for me. And I will pay a lot for great coffee experiences! I ordered the very expensive upgrade on the espresso for a cappuccino, and it was disappointing at best, not good or impressive coffee in fact. My parents were with me and we were told each person had to order a drink to sit, even though they’d ordered an ice cream, so they had to buy 800 yen a piece orange juices that were half a glass each. They wouldn’t let us sit in the empty garden on a sunny day despite our four drink and an ice cream order. Thought this would be special, had to realize it’s a tourist trap. In this city there are amazing coffee spots with five times as good a coffee with amazing vibes and ambiance....
