Alloro Mio — Restaurant in Kyoto

Slightly more expensive, but delightful Italian close by Kyoto Ritz and Imperial Palace.

Small place, run by single very friendly chef, who expertly whips out flavors that are fulfilling in a homey Italian way, but still carry some high cuisine twist. I tried fried veggies with pork, buttery but light, saving the flavors, and followed with pasta with a sauce of mushrooms and liver. Both are delicious to the point of making you ravenous. For desert enjoyed sweet wine gelato which was surprisingly complex on the palette.

Wine is plentiful as well, pleasant surprise being that they serve several choices of glass wine - a bit of a rarity in Japan.

One comments is that it was a tad expensive compared to some other places you can find in Kyoto, but...

Avoid if you are a foreigner or do not look natively Japanese!

The staff will discriminate and the restaurant will treat you like a lesser person.

You will get a smaller menu with less options and your bill will have extra charges without explanation.
