Bar Fishbowl — Restaurant in Kyoto

The bar was okay - if you are looking for a lovely place with a bartender and customers that speak English then definitely go here. It was a little bit expensive and touristy for what we were looking for. Despite this - I can see it being an enjoyable place depending on what you are wanting out of a night. The bartender seemed to know a lot about the alcohol he was serving and there was a wide range of alcohol to choose from.

The bartender was VERY talkative and told a few questionable jokes.

This was a nice cozy bar on the second floor. It is not a bar with a view, but a bar with a friendly vibe. When we visited our bartender/owner Jesse was AWESOME, he was entertaining and knowledgeable about the area night life. He is fluent in English and Japanese. The bar has a wide range selection of liquor to craft beers and the crowd that night was a mix crowds of foreigners. It was a memorable night at Fishbowl, Jesse even closed down the bar early to join the whole bar of strangers to karaoke, the nigh club, and even took top off the night with the best late night (or early morning) ramen for those who was...

Very nice and friendly place. I'm not too used of japanese menus yet, but actually it's not needed. For a shot, what you see if what you can drink and the choice is crazy, just ask for the price beforehand, so no surprises at the moment to receive the bill. For cocktails they can be personalised as well. Communication is key and easy, so really, the best would be to just do it.

They were not too many people tonight, so it can be a good alternative to crowded places.
