Lovely little food cafe next to the Katsura river, run by a dear old lady. I had the beef udon and it was one of the best I've eaten. The broth was rich and hearty. The beef was seasoned and stewed very well and had a lovely flavour. Very worth the ¥800, and it comes with a cup of strong, hot Oolong tea. A satisfying meal for a cold winter day.

They have English menus, so don't worry about any language issues.

You can also order Japanese sweets in the day time and sit outside to enjoy them...

We were still hungry and we were craving some curry udon and Cold Soba! We happen to stop by at this restaurant and everyone was very nice and greeted us at the front.

Food: the cold cha-soba was 900 yen and it hit the spot! Soba was fresh and it goes well with the hot tea that they serve to us. My wife got the curry udon for 850 yen and it eat piping hot. But it was really good!

The beef udon here was potentially my favorite meal in Kyoto! Every part of it was amazing — the broth, the beef, and the noodles. It also came super quickly which was so nice since we were cold and hungry on a chilly day. Would come here again in an instant!
