There aren't many spots in Kyoto that have a decent selection of craft beer, so when I spotted an interesting-sounding porter, I figured I'd stop in...except the place didn't open for another half hour. I killed some time and then became the first customer of the day.

I ordered a large pour of the stout, which was 1600 yen. Reasonably priced considering that all of this is imported stuff, and the store's in a kind of hipstery center in Kyoto's city center. Then I ordered fish and chips, and when the plate arrived, I was not thrilled. The smallest portion of fish I've ever been served, even counting appetizers was slid over on a tiny bed of fries. I'm not lying when I tell you that the fish sandwiches from MOS Burger or Filet-O-Fishes from McD's have more fish than I was given here. If you're gonna overcharge for the beer, don't ream the customer on the food. Absolutely would...

Came here twice in one day, that good. The beer selection is really diverse, including beers from all over the world (and Japan as well). They have a variety of imperial stouts, sours, IPAs, and a host of other really unique offerings, so many that it took me quite a while to choose what I wanted (and ended up asking the bartender for advice). They have a tap list as well as the refrigerated bottle-shop filled with the enticing cans, both of which you can have served there. If you come for the beer, you have to have to order some of the food (I ordered the eggplants with miso, fries, popcorn mix, and falafels). Some of it was standard bar fare but the cooking (cooked food) was incredible and went so well with their beer selections. The beer prices are a bit steep, but they have beer that you'd be hard-pressed to find elsewhere. Will...

Beer selection was good. But sadly, it took forever(at least 30 min) to get food served twice. I even asked the employee when it’d be ready and I’m pretty sure the kitchen staff forgot to cook. I saw him preparing something else after my orders and the second time I asked(for the second order), he rushed to fry some stuff. As long as they take care of orders, I wouldn’t mind them doing other stuff. Apparently he wasn’t and the other two staff didn’t even notice that. I was one of the THREE customers at the time and no one else ordered any food. I hope this will help the restaurant...

I stopped in with a group of deer friends after having Italian on the third floor - which was phenomenal. To be brutally honest this bar hands down has had the very best selection of craft beers that we have been able to find in Osaka, Heroshima, and Tokyo which says a lot. The staff was amazing and as accommodating as one could expect. We had such a great time we were talking about going back the next night. We are so glad that we found Dig the Line and I would give this hidden gem my highest recommendation for craft beer in Japan. Well done!
