Donburi and Noodle Restaurant Hashitate — Restaurant in Kyoto

I ordered the tempura fish on rice set meal. It came with miso soup and pickles. Very simple looking dish. I was worried why the price was double the average, but my first bite confirmed it. The taste is not average: it has gentle nuances and well balanced flavours. The texture is very satisfying. There are hidden flavours and surprises you cannot see with your eyes. The miso soup is usually not my favourite food, but here it has a deep flavour, salty but not too salty, it was just right and it matched well with the other foods in the set.

I am very happy with this meal and want to eat here again. While eating, will not feel too heavy on the stomach but by the end you feel satisfied and full.

Oh my goodness, the food here is just incredible! Loved all the saba sushi (get all 3 to compare) and the sashimi special and yuba side was unique and exactly what I was hoping for. Really love the complimentary hojicha tea, and don’t skip the lotus root mochi for an easy bite of dessert it was absolutely sublime. The tempura rice was also perfect and loved the spice oils that came with it. Had chazuke set meal and my personal preference is chazuke from the other stall right outside this restaurant.

However their mackerel sushi was very delicious! Highly recommend you to try as this dish is local to this region. If you are short in time, take out is available too.

The line was long when we came around 1 pm weekend, we took number from the machine and waited about 15 minutes.
