Love this Hotel.. and we will come back again for our next trip.. maybe in 10 months' time.
as usual, we booked the bigger room of about 28 sqm. It's pretty decent, good walking space and good area to place 2 large Luggages. Check-in was smooth & the room is very comfortable. The location is amazing ! the hotel is just across the road from Kyoto Station. Sometimes, I don't understand why people complain about the room size when it's clearly stated on the booking sites. You book a tiny room based on your small budget, and you complain about the room being small ? I get really amused whenever I see those complaints ... hahahaaa ... you want a big room, please pay more and book the size you think ideal , not book small expect it to be big ...
This hotel comes with a decent breakfast, and it's free ! we still hear people complaining about the free breakfast, saying the food is not as good. Blah blah blah ... duh .. c'mon people , you pay peanut you get peanut. the price of this hotel is already very low and given a super nice room with a decent breakfast, we should be more appreciative and contented .. . morning breakfast can be pretty chaotic and busy , but you can opt to take it away to your room, too, which is part of the solution given.
We love this hotel and everything is good !
only one issue we face would be the Coin Laundry Room Situation. You can view the laundry status from the Room TV. However, washing & drying take 120 minutes, and the clothes are still damp. You expected to add at least another 1 to 1.5 hours of drying on top of the 120 mins washing. Some people do not pick up the laundry for a few hours, and the next person would not be able to use it because each wash / dry is locked with 4 digit password so nobody can remove your laundry. so some people just hoard the machine for a few hours after their wash & dry ... the hotel states that after 30 minutes, clothes will be removed if the hotel guest does not pick it up. But it's not true , we saw from the TV that some laundry has passed 400 minutes after wash, and it's still locked inside. the hotel says they can't do anything about it. The question is : WHY DO YOU PUT UP a SIGN SAYING where I WILL BE REMOVED AFTER 30 MINITES UNCLAIM ? Since you can't do anything , why put up such a sign?
The hotel only has 3 washing machines , so once one or two gets hoarded ... those next in line would be stuck .... each wash / dry 120 mins + 60-90 mins drying (coz definitely 120 mins still damp) that equals to minimum 3-4 hour each person needs to use to wash per night per machine. which is why, even until 3/4 am, we still can't sleep because of this situation
another issue is that the TV laundry room status doesn't equal the actual machine status. Many times, we see the machine available, and we go down . It's still processing the laundry ... like 30 mins into washing with the remaining 90 mins, so definitely it's wrong because each cycle...
Read moreSuper conveniently located, just directly opposite Kyoto station, it took less than 10 minutes for me to reach once I exited the Shinkansen, went through the gates and crossed the road. Check-in was done through a machine, so although lacking in the human touch, it was very efficient. Room was very cozy, especially for a solo traveller and had enough space for my large luggage and to maneuver around. Bed was comfortable, but pillow was a little too low profile for me. Toilet was actually very small, and if one was on the larger side, it would have been impossible to sit on the can and do your business with the door closed but thankfully I didn't have that problem. Love that they managed to fit a small-ish Japanese bathtub in it though, and it was actually pretty comfortable to sit in.The hotel had good facilities, having coin washers and dryers that guests can use. As for the breakfast it was serviceable, and the restaurant for it is actually pretty small, so you have to catch the right timing to go for your breakfast otherwise you will be caught with no seats, or you have to takeaway and eat back in your room. The TV in the room has an option to check the congestion of the restaurant though, as well as checking the availability of the washers and dryers, so you can actually catch the right timing to go to the restaurant. As for the location of the hotel, it was very easy to get around, as it was just a hop and a skip away from Kyoto station, which besides being a Shinkansen station, it was also a major subway station and is connected to quite a few lines, and there was a bus station below as well as a taxi stand, which made going around Kyoto such a breeze. Besides being so close to a major train station, which also has a mall, the hotel is in walking distance and right between two malls, Aeon Mall Kyoto and Kyoto Avanti, which had good shopping and dining options. Overall the win for me for this hotel was definitely the location. All in all, definitely a contender for when I visit Kyoto again, solely for the location alone. If you do consider this hotel, you can perhaps do away with the breakfast option, if you do not mind walking to a konbini to grab a quick...
