Kuro Cafe in Kyoto is a charming spot for a relaxed breakfast. I recently enjoyed their breakfast fluffy pancake and a latte, and while there were some definite highlights, there was one minor drawback. The latte was excellent – the coffee tasted fresh and flavorful, clearly made with quality beans. I also appreciated the touch of serving fresh jam alongside the pancake, which added a nice burst of flavor.
My only slight disappointment was with the pancake itself. While it was good, it wasn't quite as "fluffy" as I had anticipated based on the description. It was more dense than airy, which was a little underwhelming. However, the overall quality of the ingredients and the delicious coffee made for a pleasant experience. Kuro Cafe is definitely a good choice for breakfast or a coffee break in Kyoto, especially if you appreciate fresh ingredients and a relaxed atmosphere. I'd recommend it, but perhaps manage expectations regarding the "fluffiness" of the pancakes.

Read moreMy friend and I came here when it wasn’t very busy. We each ordered a sandwich and we decided to share an order of pancakes (the pancakes were the reason we came).
Our iced coffee was not good but we expected this…not a problem.
When our sandwiches came, they were served to us incorrectly and not with the right sides. It seems like they confused the order. We had to ask for the menu again to be able to distinguish which sandwiches we were given versus what we ordered.
After 60 minutes at the restaurant, our pancakes still never came. Everyone in the cafe had come in after us at this point and had been served their pancakes promptly. We were quite upset…we have limited time in Kyoto, and we don’t have time to wait so long. When we asked for the check they seemed surprised that we wanted to leave without our pancakes. I...
Read moreWhile we were staying in Kyoto, we stumbled across this little cafe. Let me start by saying, these are the BEST pancakes I have ever taste and had in my entire life. In Australia we have nothing like this. The coffee was exceptional!!! The atmosphere is cozy, cute and the pancakes, absolutely delicious. They’re thick, fluffy, not too sweet, and the toppings that come with the pancakes, just top it all off, making this experience amazing. You can tell that this cafe puts so much love into what they put out. The staff were kind and very lovely. I wish we found this cafe earlier in our stay in Kyoto because this is all I want, I would travel all the way back to Japan just for these pancakes. The pricing is reasonable for what you get, if this is your sign to dine in and have the best pancakes, then take it. You won’t regret...
