Without a reservation, we arrived at Licata half an hour before closing time, but the chef kindly welcomed us. The server made an effort to speak to us in English and to guide us through the menu. First, we were offered an amuse-bouche of tomato granita with ricotta. The flavour of the tomato was amazing - so sweet and punchy. We were, then, offered house-made bread along with our vegetable antipasto platter. The sesame bread was delicious - crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside. All of the vegetables of the antipasto were marinated beautifully. My favourite was the eggplant, and the orange slices were a close second. My husband doesnโ€™t typically like olives, but we were stunned that they were his favourite of the antipasto. The uni spaghetti was very unique. The pieces of uni were firm, yet delicate, and very fresh. The pasta was cooked al dente and the sauce was excellent. The rack of lamb was succulent and nicely seared on the outside. The highlight of the meal was the zuppe di pesce - perfectly-cooked seafood in a deep and savoury tomato broth. The fish was so tender and flavourful - truly outstanding. The fish cheek was the best Iโ€™ve ever had. Still dreaming about this dish. In true Kyoto fashion, the server saw us out of the restaurant and sent us on our way with some Italian chocolates. So impressed that only two people run the restaurant but things flow so smoothly. Highly recommend! P.S. Sit at the counter to watch the chef do his magic. I watch a lot of cooking shows, but seeing the way he supremes an orange was super cool!

What a wonderful surprise! We were walking around the neighborhood looking for Japanese food, but then stumbled on this place. Couldn't find that on Google Maps at first ๐Ÿ˜ƒ The food was amazing! The appetizers were so good, high quality. And too little ๐Ÿคฃ The bread was not as fluffy/raised as I would like, but was still very good. We had sardine pasta and mussels. The pasta was made to perfection, and the sauce was a bit sweet - highlighting the good quality of the tomatoes - a little spicy and just the right balance of salt. Amazing! The mussels were classic white wine and full of freshly ground pepper. So much fun. We sat next to the chef, it was inspiring to see him cook.

I watch a lot of cooking shows, but seeing the way he supremes an orange...

What a wonderful surprise! We were walking around the neighborhood looking for Japanese food, but then stumbled on this place. Couldn't find that on Google Maps at first ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

The food was amazing!

We sat next to the chef, it was inspiring to...
