Poor experience. Staff is rude and impolite. We stopped by in the morning but they were full at that time so we booked in the afternoon at 17.00. Staff was not welcoming. They were giving you order rather than introducing your the experience and services( in fact no service at all) The staff lead us to upstair even shouted at my son to sit to our assigned table. Apparently our table was gathered by the pigs. My son needed some time to get used to the atmosphere and literally he was a bit nervous as I found that some pigs were not in good emotions. They kept screaming and looked anxious keeps walking around. One of the bigger one even walked to us swiftly and we were a bit freak-out to be honest. I can feel the animals are not happy and they have bad emotions. But the staff didn’t care us and has no sign to help or try to engage you into the space. They just sit next to you and rub the pigs. One of the pigs keep munching my son’s clothes and he tried to stay away and pushed a bit. The staff sat next to him doing nothing, just ask him to sit still. As a parent, I ask the staff to keep the pig away as I’m worried the pig will bite him badly. I can notice the pig started to be grumpy. The staff was raged in a sudden and hold the pig up in one sec. She looks very angry and ask us to pay full price even we only went in for 10mins and without having their drinks. After that I paid. But I told the shop’s leader about her rude and impoliteness. She insisted not to refund and said nothing she can do. I said I don’t need refund but an apologize for her bad manner to us. We have done nothing wrong but her bad manner ruined the whole thing.
However the shop leader said she is Part time and off. That doesn’t makes sense as she was still upstair. I waited for 10 mins and the leader declined to ask her apologize.
All pigs are over-worked everyday. If you can see from morning till evening , there are many many tourists to come.
It’s my first time to see how rude a Japanese could be and I don’t think my experience was an...

The pigs are visibly stressed the entire time. The staff hands you paperwork showing all of these safety guidelines and that "the pigs come first". "Do not force the pigs to interact with you". "It is close to the pigs feeding time so they will be very loud".
The staff FORCED the pigs on to people's laps. Any pig that walked away was guided back or picked up and placed onto a person's lap several times. Every time this happened the pigs squealed loudly with frustration. One staff member was forcing a pig to sit on a person's lap by touching and even forcing her finger into the pig's rectum. Yes. This is true. I wish it wasn't.
All of the pigs are malnourished. As you pet them you can feel their spines and ribs. I'm not a pig expert but the last I checked, pigs shouldn't be skinny like that. They are underfed so they stay small from stunted growth. "Micro pigs" or "mini pigs" are NOT a real thing. They are just pot belly pigs.
The pigs have no where to rest in that small room. Which only makes them want to lay on top of you more for the sake of having some kind of cushion to rest on. All of them are constantly grinding their teeth which can be seen as a sign of stress.
So much for the "almost the pig's feeding time" statement because it was supposed to happen after a half hour. We were there for 25 mins. As soon as our time was up, another group IMMEDIATELY showed up and the pigs were audibly stressed.
Please do not go here. Go to Arashiyama Monkey Park instead of you wish to interact with animals. Mipig Cafe is awful and does not care for these pigs. While there, you're also so distracted with the pigs that there is never any time to get your drink. IT'S A CAFE. Part of the package...

Stumbled by this place shortly after opening time in the morning. My brother and I gasped and knew we had to try it for a quick 30 minutes before continuing on our day. Luckily there was plenty of space available, so no reservation was needed (though I imagine their afternoons and evenings are quite busy, so definitely recommend booking ahead on weekends!).
We stored our belongings in a locker on the 1st floor and were escorted upstairs, given a blanket for our legs, and small area with cushions to sit on the floor. The piggies immediately flocked over and took to climbing in our lap or rubbing their chins on our feet. They enjoyed scratches and were content to trot around the area as they pleased!
Staff were friendly and they had a multi-language instruction sheet with basic how-tos and FAQs.
The time went by quickly, so we didn’t get any of the free drinks offered from the vending machine, but it looked to be a decent variety.
Definitely worth the visit, if just for a short time to...
