🍅🥘👏THIS TOMATO CURRY RAMEN WILL BLOW YOUR MIND !!!! 👏🥘🍅
We stumbled upon this place by accident because it’s tucked away in a small alley and we are so thankful we did! It was the ideal location while we waited to go snuggle micro pics at the nearby mipig cafe. The menu has both Japanese and English descriptions so it is easy to navigate the choices. The tucked away location allowed us to get in and be served right away as this hidden gem is still a little known secret it appears. It won’t stay this way for long because while this food might appear simple and humble, the flavours of your first bite will transport you to a much more expensive restaurant. Get ready to acquire an addiction and want to come back again and again.
The staff here are so welcoming, fast and friendly. You’ll be happy with the salad. It is SO FRESH with a delicious dressing, the dumplings are fantastic, the roasted pork is tender and flavourful. Our server recommended we try his favourite - the tomato curry. The flavour was off the charts delicious and you won’t regret ordering this. The noodles were perfectly cooked and the tomato broth reminds me of a northern Indian butter chicken sauce but a slight bit thinner and not as buttery. We visited on the first day of snow in Kyoto and I can’t think of a cozier meal to warm you up on a snowy or drizzly day of sightseeing. We’re already wanting to go back and it hasn’t been 24 hours yet lol. The value for what you get...
Read moreCame here solo for second dinner after having a regular bowl of ramen for first dinner. Looked up places around our hotel and found this spot. Even when I went later at 8pm, I still had to wait for about 15 minutes because the place was so busy. Seating is all counter style.
Glad I waited because the tomato curry ramen was delicious. Definitely one of the more unique bowls of ramen I got on this trip. Got it with some pork for 1400 yen which in my opinion is a solid deal. The broth is so rich - almost like a combination of butter chicken and laksa. The place is run by two people, and it's impressive how they manage to keep things efficient. Both help with the cooking and the customer service and it flows well.
As for the reviews that say the place is abnormally hot sometimes, I can only comment on my experience but customers keep leaving the front door open instead of sliding it shut when they're coming in or leaving, or peeking to see how long they might be waiting, letting in a lot of cold air. That's probably why the heat is on higher. Some food...
Read moreOur first visit to Kyoto and our first bite to eat. Reviews looked promising and we passed a lot of ramen shops before finally stopping here.
We waited about 15 minutes to get in, but it was completely worth it. The line got even longer after we had entered, so prepare to wait 30 minutes or more as it gets busy quickly.
A mum and pop Ramen shop. Making arguably the best ramen in Kyoto. I know that's a big claim, but right now nothing comes close.
The curry flavours of the broth mixed with the thick, chewy, bouncy ramen noodles that soak up every bit of that broth. Absolute party of flavours in your mouth.
The pork is perfectly cooked. It almost had the consistency of perfectly smoked beef brisket that had just soaked up all that curry broth. Absolutely melt in your mouth explosion of flavour.
Come in for the Tomato curry ramen, and stay for the wonderful hospitality of the mum and pop. That clearly love putting smiles on their customers faces with their...
