Visited this wonderful shop a while ago and let me tell you this is the best place you can go to in Kyoto! 😭💕💕💕 the place isn’t far from Fushimi Inari’s entrance, you just gotta walk a bit and voila.
The owner is a very sweet and very helpful lady! She explained EVERYTHING from what kinds of matcha there are, how to brew them, how to store them, all in perfect english! I hope your day is always a good day, mrs and mr owner 💕
The shop has many many many things, from matcha, teas, matcha chasen, matcha bowl, cute tin container, whatever you need you will find it here. You can also buy a small gift package where you can write a small letter and they will wrap it in a cute gift wrapper along with a few tea bags (or candies!) of your own choice. Very very cute 💕 Oh and they also have a water refill dispenser. I love this store so much.
I can’t stop smiling throughout my visit here because it’s not just a shop, it’s a whole experience 💕 my only regret is that I don’t spend all my money here 🤣 so anyone who wants to visit this wonderful shop, don’t make the same mistake as I do and just empty your wallet here 🤣💕
Mrs and mr owner, if you’re reading this, I hope I can visit again...

After visiting Fushimi Inari Taisha on a hot summer day, I was craving something cool and matcha-flavored. I found a highly rated tea house on Google Maps called Ōtani Chaen (大谷茶園). Honestly, when I first arrived, I wasn’t sure if I was in the right place—it looked more like a traditional tea shop than a typical café.
But I’m so glad I stayed, because they served the most delicious matcha latte I’ve ever had. There were two types available: regular and premium. The premium version was only offered unsweetened, so I went with that—and it was perfect, especially paired with their matcha yokan (a traditional sweet jelly). One standout detail was the color: it had a brilliant, vivid green hue, unlike the dull, murky green you often find at other cafes.
Since then, I’ve tried matcha drinks at several other places, but nothing has come close to the flavor and quality I experienced here. I still think about it now that I’m back home. If you’re a matcha lover visiting Kyoto, don’t miss this place—it’s truly...

What makes it even better? The price is shockingly affordable for the quality you receive. It’s clear that the people behind this masterpiece are passionate about what they do, and it shines through in every sip and scoop.
A huge shoutout to our tour guide, Gary, who recommended we check this place out even though it’s only a short walk from the main strip. Trust me, you will not be disappointed. This place deserves all the recognition, and I can’t...
