This place is really amazing, super-friendly, kind, fast and very reliable. We went to the temple around 1000 or 1100, and we had to wait for about one hour at another kimono rental, and saw the person advertising it and she said really close by. We went there and they had a wide variety of kimonos and yukata, and a lot of accessories for the kimonos. Really pleased with the customer service, wide variety of selection and bonus pictures.
The female who took us to the shop really deserves a raise because she explained everything on how to rent the kimono and everything you need to know about when to return and she physically took us there, when she could’ve just said “oh it’s right over there”. She took her time to make us feel welcomed, and so did the whole entire shop. I couldn’t stress and empathize enough on their customer relationship, they are amazing, very friendly, and helpful, and very knowledgeable. Plus, you can speak English there, so it’s perfect for people who don’t speak Japanese.
I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PLACE IF YOU’RE LOOKING FOR A KIMONO RENTAL UP TO 1700, AND DEFINITELY COMING BACK IN THE FUTURE.
If I am able to give them more than 5 stars, I WOULD for their expert customer services, and a very beautiful hair styling. The experience I had with them can only be experienced first hand, because I don’t know how to explain it through words, because they are just absolutely wonderful.
Thank you to all you guys for your help and expertise, and a very very pleasant and...
Read moreWe went to Karen's before Fushimi Inari and our daughter was very excited to buy a kimono for the day. The people were very helpful and kind, but the kimono they sold us seemed to be very old and possibly used. Stitches were ripping at the seam of her arm and there were stains all over the dress that we missed when purchasing. Disappointed when we went back in they didn’t offer any alternatives or compensation back.
UPDATE: Making a revision to my review. Since my post, the manager of the store reached out and went above and beyond to remedy our situation. We'd already left from Kyoto to Tokyo and the manager offered to come to our hotel and personally hand us a refund. I advised that neither a full refund wasn't necessary or a 2-hour trek felt necessary, as it is out of their way. But they were adamant about making things right. She refunded us fully, sent a box of cookies to us and provided us a Yukata (Summer kimono) for our daughter. I have never seen such exceptional and honorable service. Truly amazing to observe and appreciated. I would recommend any person looking for kimono to rent and/or buy, go here. They will make sure you get the experience you are seeking no matter what. I will be recommending this place to everyone I know...
Read moreKaren Kimono is a truly hidden gem in Kyoto. Located just a bit further down the path to Inari than other kimono shops, it offers an unparalleled experience. Having lived in Japan for six years, I've visited their shop three times with friends and family, and each time has been beyond exceptional.
The shop boasts a huge variety of kimonos, and the staff, who speak excellent English, are incredibly kind and accommodating. They are also remarkably quick, ensuring that you can start your adventure in traditional Japanese attire without delay.
What sets Karen Kimono apart is their dedication to showcasing Japanese culture to tourists. They take great care to ensure that you not only look the part but also understand and appreciate the significance behind the garments you're wearing. This time, I tried the Hakama and loved it even more than the kimono!
I can't wait to visit Karen Kimono again and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for an authentic and memorable kimono...
