Firstly it is called Okazaki coffee shop, not "Japanese restaurant"--probably an America tourist who didn't really know its name reviewed as so.
Unassuming like the Eikanji temple next door, this little cafe serves 7 or 8 items other than coffee and tea. Operated by a lovely old couple for decades, it is a truly a locals diner. Prices and services are everyday prices, so is the ambiance and food. Our first round blew us away in the homey and comfort food taste that we order a full 2nd round, trying more than half of the short menu. Our top votes are yakisoba, cold noodle, Tianjin rice, cod roe pasta, and ramen. It just hit the right spot after walking the stunningly beautiful Eikanji all morning.

After visiting the Nanzenji temple and heading toward the Eikando temple, we were hungry and searching for something quick for lunch. And we were so lucky to find Rorian!
The ramen was the best I have ever had (amazing soy broth, excellent pork slices) and the yakisoba was incredibly tasty. We also had a nice matcha ice cream to finish our incredibly cheap lunch. Friendly stall owner comes up and ask for your order which has its menu printed on the walls in the shop, and with all of the wording in Japanese - use either Google Translate camera mode or just go with the photos to make your choice!
There’s also a similarity between its dishes, with onions, green bell peppers being a staple 😊 I personally prefer the ramen over the other dishes 🍜👍🏻
