Very good, recommended to strangers: the hotpot was nice and well served, at reasonable prices. Consider the portions were bigger than the average in this area: we were full at the end and not hungry as happened before in some expensive places nearby. Staff helped (also with English not perfect, but they managed and they were eager to help!!). They put a grill in the center of the table for self-cooking, so we had a nice and cozy dinner with friends. Ok, the location is rough, but what eat and how you cook it, plus the warm welcome... will make you forget this detail fast. I highly suggest the Japanese hotpot(we asked a swap no normal pork, not inner mix)! Super. Staff was also astonishingly flexible we stayed till late and I saw them accepting people at 9.15 with no reservation. Being 8 people, something normally scary in Japan, the were very supportive with our requests to select the right meat for our 4 kids! Friendly to strangers, not common here. Try, you will not regret. PS. Yes you must buy 1 drink each for adults, but this is an ancient izakaya tradition. The draft beer was perfect...

But those become very minor concerns when I tried their beef. I have had yakiniku in Osaka, Tokyo, and Sapporo and I can say beef yakiniku in this shop is the best I've ever tasted. We ordered brisket, rib, and spencer(loin?) and all are very tender and delicious, especially brisket. The deliciousness is heightened further by their 3 types of sauces which all very great. Go really well with Japanese rice. Average price per beef dish is around 880 jpy. Very value for money for what we got. English menu available and staff can communicate English easily. Definitely will...
Read moreVery cool little restaurant where you order the meat and cook it on a grill they bring to your table. We had beef cheeks, tongue, and chicken skin with a salad. They also have a good beer selection, including non-alcoholic options.
The restaurant was a little hard to find. It is on a narrow street, and the sign is in Japanese. They had a large magnetized clear plastic curtain covering the storefront so you could see in and out, but the AC didn't escape. This allowed for a great view of people passing on the street.
The staff spoke basic English and were very courteous and helpful. The price was also...
