1948年(昭和23年)に開店しました。 ソワレとはフランス語で「夜会」・「素敵な夜」、メニューの表紙にある文字「Soyez la bienvenve」はフランス語で 「ようこそいらっしゃいました」という意味です。店先には伯爵歌人 吉井勇氏による自筆の歌碑があります。 特徴となっている店内の青色照明は、創業者の友人である染色家上村六郎氏から「女性がきれいに見える灯りを」とのアドバイスからそのようにしました。このためお見合いの場に使われていたこともあります。 当店のコースターやタンブラー・ゴブレット・コーヒーカップ等に使われている画伯東郷青児(とうごうせいじ)氏の絵は、創業者が店のイメージに合うと気に入って絵を飾っていたところ、二科会作家 佐々木良三氏に連れられてご本人が来店され、以後当店のために、何枚もの美人画を描いていただいたものです。このため、東郷青児氏以外の絵画は「二科会」の会員の絵画が中心となっております。(出典:ソワレHPより) It opened in 1948 (Showa 23).
