we stopped by because we saw what looked like to delicious tea items advertised outside. When we got inside, we were told we weren't allowed to sit because they were closing at 1:30 after letting them know we were just ordering drinks. We asked to sit inside and we told to wait in the waiting area, the cashier came to take our order from the seating area where we ordered the two drinks advertised outside. Instead of charging us ¥1400 we were charged ¥3400. Not only that but the drinks were not completely filled, and we were given to go cups and told to leave. The drinks did not warrant the predatory pricing. I think the icing on the cake was that they in fact it did not close at 1:30 but continued to serve customers food and drink when we returned from a shop across the street a little while later. If you are a tourist with limited Japanese avoid. A couple in front of us ordered some ice cream to go and paid. When they went to leave, a server followed them out and told them that the price had changed and that they needed to come back and pay more. Never have I encountered a business that changes their price immediately after ordering it and paying. It isn't uncommon for tourists and foreigners to pay different prices depending on the country you're in, but that...
Read moreA favourite spot for delicious homemade scones with clotted cream and jam.
Highly recommend to get the "tea free", which includes a rotation of different teas from the menu, that get served to you over the course of 1.5 hours (can't choose which teas). I recommend to try the seasonal scone which changes depending on the season (currently pumpkin scone). Current seasonal extra items include a delicious looking fig parfait and the proper caramel milk tea with tons of nashi (the fruit). The caramel is a little bitter as it should and the flavour overall is complex and pleasant.
Apart from the scones, the sandwiches are great and so is the scrumptious carrot cake. In the pictures there is the kiki's day plate (includes a sandwich of your choice, here was the chicken breast and carrot, figs, various cakes and a scone of your choice, here earl gray). In the back is the standard scone set. Both were purchased as a tea free set. In the second picture is the caramel milk tea.
A great spot both on a hot summer day, or a chill...
Read moreWe were two people dining in primarily for tea tasting(which is done through purchasing their tea set called free tea), but also bought scones and desserts sets to try different things. We were impressed with both the scones and desserts that tasted great, especially the parfait and scones. The free tea experience was great along with their superb service. We didnt chose the tea but as fast our tea was empty they would come up and fill your tea with a different flavor that they recommend, without you needing to ask or wait any long time. (Note the tea tasting has time limit of 80 minutes but we managed to taste 7 different teas!).
The menu is a bit on the pricey side(except the free tea set). But due to their really good service(no wait time for filling tea), helpful staff (we only knew english and they communicated with us anyways) and the delicious taste for the teas, scones and dessert makes it more...
