We had an excellent meal here. We ordered the "banana shaped" gyoza that was overstuffed with delicious pork filling that was juicy and firm. My pet peeve is the filling that falls out when you dip the gyoza after you have taken a bite. If you're ordering an entree, 1 gyoza per person is sufficient. It's big.
My wife ordered the "very delicious meat special on Dan Dan soup noodle." It came with a huge chunk of chashu, pork spare rib, chicken drumstick, and what I think was a duck. With the current exchange rate, it came out to about $13. No way we find anything approaching that at home for double that money. My wife doesn't eat spicy so she couldn't finish it, but the entire table ate off that dish.
I ordered black sesame Dan Dan noodle. It was the same thing as my wife without the tower of meat. Very delicious.
Finally my daughter ordered a simple soy sauce noodle. She said it was good,
They had an English menu and the staff spoke enough English. The atmosphere was relaxed and bright. The clientele seems to be a mix of tourists and the locals (maybe local tourists).
We chose this place after our first choice had ran out of soup and closed for the day. Maybe they're better but I can't imagine how much better. So between not eating or standing in line for an hour and this place, this...

If I could give zero stars, I would. This was single-handedly the worst and most dishonest dining experience of our entire trip to Japan. This place is a complete scam preying on tourists.
First, the line outside is FAKE. They have people standing there to make it look popular and busy. Don't fall for it like we did. It’s a deliberate tactic to lure you into their trap.
The food was not just bad, it was inedible and frankly, unsafe. The beef with vegetables noodles we ordered was literally BURNT. Black, charred, and disgusting. We were actually afraid to eat it and left the whole plate. (See my picture for the "Beef" abomination)
The lemon chicken noodles were even worse. The chicken was rubbery and nearly RAW in the center. I stopped eating immediately for fear of getting food poisoning.
I've seen people mention the gyoza, but what we served was pale and uncooked (Look how much water came out from just one gyozo).
To top it all off, the toilets were absolutely filthy. For the outrageously expensive price they charge, you get burnt/raw food, a dirty bathroom, and the feeling of being completely ripped off.
Save your money, your time, and your health. Do NOT go here. This establishment is a disgrace to the wonderful food...
Read moreWent there for a meal with a larger group of 5. We were able to be seated at the bar in two separate groups, one around 15 minutes after the other on a busy Friday night. Honestly could not have asked for more given that it was during Golden Week.
I ordered the Chicken and Yuzu Pan-Fried Dumplings, plus the Pork and Garlic Fried Rice. The dumplings were delicious, with just the right hint of citrus to make them taste fresh and not heavy. The fried rice was quite salty and not exemplary in any way, but I was hungry and it was a large portion so I cleared my plate regardless.
Overall, I’d say that this spot is a solid option if you’re trying to get a decently cheap and filling meal, but not if you’re looking for the best that Kyoto has to offer. As such, it’s easily deserving...
