If you’re on the hunt for a place that serves rich, flavorful Bangladeshi food with a vegetarian twist, you need to check out this newly opened spot in just at the downtown Kyoto. From creamy, spice-infused curries to insanely good cheese naan, this place delivers on all fronts!
Flavors That Hit the Spot Customizable Spiciness – Whether you’re all about that fiery heat or prefer a milder kick, they let you adjust the spice level to your liking. No matter what you choose, the flavors remain bold and authentic. I chose level 5 and it’s just about right. Sweet & Savory Curry Perfection – The curry is rich, velvety, and has just the right hint of sweetness that balances the deep, aromatic spices. It’s the kind of dish that warms your soul with every bite. The Cheese Naan is Next-Level – Let’s talk about the real star of the show—this cheese naan is absolute heaven. Soft, pillowy, and packed with gooey, stretchy cheese that melts in your mouth. The slight crisp on the outside, paired with a sprinkle of herbs, makes it irresistible. Dip it in the curry, and you’ve got a match made in foodie paradise!
Beyond the Food – Amazing Vibes & Hospitality
The service? Top-notch. The staff are super welcoming and genuinely passionate about making sure you have the best experience. Whether it’s recommending dishes or tweaking spice levels, they go the extra mile.
The atmosphere is cozy, warm, and full of charm—a perfect blend of Bangladeshi culture with Kyoto’s laid-back elegance.

Read moreDelicious and delightful! Really enjoyed our meal, so appreciative for the vegan options.
The evening we went to VOG was quite busy and there were a small number of fellow tourists who were lacking in conscientiousness, patience, and self awareness.
One party kept the manager at their table for 10 minutes to place their order, one patron asking (quite condescendingly) for very specific oil due to dietary restrictions. This patron ended up eating some of their partner's food anyway! And when told it may take some extra time to make something custom, they questioned how long, instead of being grateful. This is just one small anecdote from the evening, and this table in particular.
As a fellow American, watching the staff be bullied by a select few fellow Americans was disheartening, you could tell it was a rough night for them.
I hope VOG continues to thrive and keep a smile on their face, and to anyone reading this, please be respectful, do you have to complain about everything?
Have a good day!

Read moreSo good that I ordered a second meal. This place is exceptional with some of the best curry I’ve had. We actually just came from a Michelin bib restaurant where we live in the US and this was far superior. The first dish I ordered was the Chana my personally favorite and it didn’t disappoint with a tangy taste and multiple more-ish flavors. To check this wasn’t a coincidence, I ordered a second curry (Butter vegan tofu masala) which was also phenomenal. I’ve had meat & vegetarian curries and this restaurant can compete in both universes, easy 5 star experience. The owner/ host was lovely and the chefs have combined experience from Nepal, India and Bangladesh. No wonder it was so good!
Extra mentions… mushroom soup is fire 🔥 Tofu salad (dressing was delicious) 🤤 Veg samosa needed more filling & flavor but that my tiniest critique.
Don’t miss this...
