Vegetable Dishes ”OKI” SHIJO — Restaurant in Kyoto

Disappointing Dining Experience, not Japan, good standard.

We were excited to try this restaurant because of the variety of vegan options, so I made a reservation for my family. Unfortunately, the experience was extremely disappointing.

We ordered a vegan meal, a Japanese beef burger, a cheese pizza, and a drink. I’m not sure if there was even a chef working that night, but the quality of the food was shockingly poor.

Pizza Disaster: The "pizza" was just flatbread with some kind of bad cheese on top. The bread was hard and burnt. I couldn’t even look at it. Honestly, a 5 years old could make a better" bad pizza. "

Japanese Beef Burger: The burger was wrapped in aluminum foil and drowned in ketchup. There was no attention to the presentation whatsoever.

Vegan Meal: The vegan meal was nothing but a plate full of rice and vegetables, lacking any creativity or balance.

Service Issues: To top it off, they forgot my drink but still included it in the bill. When I pointed it out, the waitress apologized, but by then, the damage was done.

Final Thoughts: We traveled a long way and took the time to try this place, only to leave completely disappointed. I’ve never encountered such poor food quality in Japan before. Overall, it’s not worth your time or money, and I wouldn’t recommend this...

We search this place and a family of seven end up going there through Google, expecting a lot. We reach there. The food is average , some dishes are really sweet. Some are good such as bibinmap. The service was good from one server who has glasses the other guy is extra rude and over smart. When we come to your restaurant, it means that we have searched you from Google and we will recommend you depending on your behaviour to other people. My wife asked for the bill, he said I cannot let you check the items before you pay which I found absolutely outrageous. I have travelled the world across. I have never seen this kind of behaviour . upon insisting. He showed the bill which was incorrect and rectified later. All the more reason that his initial rudeness was unjustified, specially when all we requested is to just check the number of items we ordered and then pay instead of that he said first pay and we don’t have this rule in entire Japan. I mean how silly is that?

Guys i just dont want to thrash a place but his rudeness is...

We were really looking forward to this as vegetarians. The dishes seemed very promising when we read the menu, but everything except the "vegetable cutlet hamburger" was VERY disappointing.

The "cheese sauce" of our 'potatos with cheese sauce" tasted like thickened water with no cheese flavor at all, and the roasted vegetable soup was also thickened water with a piece of potato (which might have been roasted?) in it.

The plum wine was almost twice as expensive as in other places in Kyoto, and you got half as much! Very strange. Literally 3sips.

In the end, we paid a lot but all five of us left the restaurant hungry and ended up buying food at the Family Mart on the corner. Which, if you saw the bill, is really...
