NAKAMACHI CAFE — Restaurant in Matsumoto

The store is style over substance. The interior looks nice enough in its minimalistic style. But the chairs are hard and small, and the bag-holder next to the table barely fits 1 backpack. The servings staff barely seems to care, which is very rare for Japan. And she half heartedly points at a QR code used for ordering. Which I don't like but that might just be me. The servers all just seemed to mumble the words. Then we were offered the smallest cups of lukewarm water. The iced coffee we ordered was mediocre at best, and no cream or syrup was offered and we had to find and get it ourself. The earl grey, grapefruit, natadecoco drink we ordered was not mixed at all. Which led to an overly sweet first sip, after which all the fruit syrup was gone. Which left a cold glass of earl grey with tiny natadecoco bits in it. All in all very disappointing, other reviews mention good food. But if you are looking for drinks and a nice atmosphere, avoid...

Outstanding filter and cold brew coffee! It's worth a visit just for the coffee, but that's not the limit of their excellence

The salmon sandwich (featuring cream cheese and avocado) was excellent.

While there, many others were ordering the souffle pancakes and they looked so decadent. We ordered one with fruit topping and it was fantastic. The pancakes have a wonderful and unique custard-like interior.

Don’t order Soufflé Pancake. We dined here for the well know. Soufflé pancake was after a long wait, it was served raw. We didn’t eat it after a few bites and complained to the store but was charged the full price.
