This is the third location of this chain I have visited. Previously went to Roppongi and Shinjuku locations.
Reason for the low rating: Terrible service
No QR code was given even though they wanted us to order using QR code No water was given until we ask No one ever come pick up the dishes until we ask A wrong dish was delivered and they denied it was wrong when we notified them. I had to argue that the dish was not what I ordered based of my phone’s order history for them to take it back. On their website it was advertised the duck 3 ways is ¥2888 and that’s also the price I paid in Shinjuku in 2022. Today it was ¥4980.
Lastly, the ultimatum on why I would never go back to this place ever again.
I enjoy Peking Duck, so when my family came visit from a different country. I wanted to share this place with them. We promptly sat down at 6pm and place the order for the Duck 3 ways. The expected cook time was 30mins. We then ordered other appetizers and eat while waiting for the Duck. The duck did not show up until almost an hour after we placed the order; close to 7pm. Then the other two associated dish for the Duck 3 ways (stir fry duck meat and bone soup) continues to be MIA. We asked several times on why the long wait. Finally at 8pm, a full freaking hour after we finished all the food they served, we just sat there for a full hour waiting for the final two items. My family literally got upset and decided to get the bill and leave.
We were not served our food and they continued to tell us to wait, but did not communicate with the kitchen that our order is still not up. The kitchen does not seem to follow through with our orders… we sat in front of the kitchen and was observing that they apparently have some SOP that they follow, and were compiling orders before cooking the stir fry, so we had to wait for other tables duck to be order before they would cook ours.
A full hour was wasted sitting around and no food was served.
If you have plenty of time to wait, that’s great for you.
But I had a little one that was getting restless with no food to entertain her for an hour and the extra time also means a higher parking fee at the coin park lot.
I don’t go to a Chinese restaurant expecting great service. But I also don’t expect to be neglected for a full hour waiting for just two dishes that should have came along with the primary duck. The waiters didn’t seem to give a damn and it seems like a normal occurrence to them that’s how long food takes to be served.
Their stupid management should to fix this, they could have served an extra table of guest if they just gave us our food and let us leave, anyways I’ll never...
Read moreI have been a big fan of the Chinese Cafe Eight in Roppongi (Tokyo) since a friend took me there many years ago. Later, when I moved to Hiroo I was often going to the Ebisu branch, until I moved to Saitama three years ago.
This weekend I'm visiting Nagoya with my girlfriend and I saw that there's a Chinese Cafe Eight here, so we had to come and try it. We went for dinner tonight (a Friday) at around 7:30pm. It was very busy, so we had to wait a few minutes until we could sit, but once we were on our table and started ordering food started coming quickly.
The menu is exactly the same as in the Tokyo branches I've visited, and based on what we ordered (Pekin duck, dumplings, spicy fried chicken, belt noodles...) the dishes are exactly the same.
The food is excellent, and the serving sizes are huge, just like in the other branches. The staff are very attentive and they're paying attention so they come quickly when you call them. A lady in a red dress was specially attentive and helpful. She brought us water, extra torizara, soup dishes and spoons...
We ended up paying a little over 4000 yen each, but we had enough food left on the table for at least two more people. We just couldn't finish it all because there was so much of it.
The only thing I miss from the Tokyo branches (especially Roppongi) is the decoration. Those who have been there will know what I mean.
Fantastic restaurant. Will come again next time I...
Read moreUnwelcoming staff. Just the moment we have entered, I could sense something off. First we have ordered spicest mapo tofu they have. Spiciest, 激辛。it arrived and it wasn't spicy even a tiny bit. Not even as little spicy as a bloody tabasco. Chillies that you see in my picture are actually no chillies, just a paprica. Not spicy at all, despite it was supposed to be spicy. So we have called the staff and asked that we have ordered the spiciest. And staff, without even looking at any order lost, told us that that is what we have ordered. To make it short and not sound like a Karen - this place has quire many bar reviews. But we still went here. Not worth it. Your average 街中華 will do way better in terms of...
