Top pizza snob reporting for duty. So, I'm not really sure how other people judge pizza, but considering the style served here is one of the hardest to get right, they do a phenomenal job. The pizza is similar to a NY style, with thin crust that's lightly toasted to firmness, but not overcooked leaving a burnt taste in your mouth. Outside of the USA (excluding Italy) this is probably the best pizza I've ever had.
With that said let's talk about what else makes this place five stars. I swear every cool kid in town was there at the exact same time I was, making me feel like I'd come to the right place. Everyone was eating pizza, but they could have been there for a dance party for all I know.
The upstairs has a hip hop vibe with music playing and a DJ setup that makes you wish you were there with the DJ, but customers are not allowed to sit back there.
If the crowd wasn't there for a dance party, they could have been their for the 90 minute all-you-can-drink Budweiser special, of the five and one half hour "happy hour." You can pick, as neither one of those two things I could complain about at their age.
With that said, I'm obviously here for the pizza. The first time I ventured here my stomach was really upset, which made me crave a reliable set of flavors that wouldn't make me sick. While in Mexico I tried to find a place like this and I was really disappointed, as something in the flavors their just aren't suited well to pepperoni pizza.
Other people may not prefer their pepperoni to have a bit of spiciness to it, but I do. The peppero here had a hint of that Mountain Mike's style, which is my favorite. I can't vouch for every pizza type here because after discovering my reliable favorite, I didn't order any other type.
I eventually ventured back to try the pizza under normal circumstances to make sure my opinion wasn't biased by my stomach issues and the pep delivered again, this time with a milkshake.
For a place that doesn't claim to specialize in milkshakes, they are unbelievable here. They don't serve it with that little extra on the side, but as I said, I don't think milkshakes are supposed to be bringing all the boys to the yard here. Notably, they are made exactly as they look on the menu.
Along with the pizza, I ordered one of their drinks, which getting Coke in a glass at the majority of Japanese restaurants is still a pleasure every time it happens and this was no exception. Beyond being able to order a Coke, I eventually started ordering their milkshakes which are insane. For a place that doesn't advertise, espec
Even if you only found the pizza okay, in combination with the drink specials, milkshakes, and music, even haters should have to give this at least five stars. If there are some YouTubers out they should try to hit this place up and do it justice because Nagoya could use a hipster trendy spot on the...
Read moreThe place sort of had atmosphere, somewhat dark, cramped and a hole in the wall feeling. The menu was rather creative and cute. One thing I wasn't expecting was needing to order a drink with a slice, something I rarely do even at McDonald's to avoid all that high fructose syrup. I prefer water to avoid this, and can't handle caffeine except in the moring. There didn't seem to be any signs as others have mentioned. Pizza had definitely a homemade quality to it, ie a crust that was made in a lower temperature home type oven, crisp but lacking the thicker crust one gets from a "pizza" oven. I was disappointed because I get the same results at home. Nice that the slice I got was reheated as they do in NY and other pizzerias that serve by the slice. Unfortunately, the piece I got was rather dry and...
Read moreSolo Pizzeria is usually my favorite but the queue is too long. Found Dookie’s from google and decided to try. Horrible experience that spoiled my day. I went in asking for a table on the 2nd floor and they said no. I thought it was full and therefore I said dining at an outdoor table or takeaway. They said no again.
There was clearly pizza behind the counter and some have already been sliced. I didn’t know why they turned down my business and I was really mad as the kid really wanted to do pizza for lunch.
I guess unless you speak Japanese or are a blonde hair, or else this is probably not the place to go. Shame on...
