Yaba Coffee Sakae — Restaurant in Nagoya

This café is a comfortable independent café just on the corner of Yaba-cho, right next to Sakae, so it's a nice refuge from the more busy cafés in the city centre. However, because of the location, it can become really busy in the daytime on weekends and hi days. Weekday evenings are relatively quiet.

This place serves a variety of food, but has a focus on Spaghetti Napolitan, and on a daily rotation of set meals for lunch and dinner. The staff are nice, and the food is good (when available... the set meals are especially prone to being sold out earlier in the evenings, and some of the meals seem randomly unavailable). There's a good variety of coffee too, with a focus on a different pick each day....

Really nice place with a relaxed modern atmosphere. Everything is clean and it's easy to relax. The breakfast set I got, as I was walking in the area to my planned visit, was good. The only drawback was the components were largely pre-made which took the cafe charm out of it I have come to love for breakfast sets. It was good but still the price of 500 yen was a bit in the high side and made me feel I was paying for the atmosphere not the food which is the point of going to a Cafe. The only coffee house with its own big smoking seating room! We went here twice for the day, before our walk to Osu shopping center and in the afternoon when our feet were so tired from walking the whole morning and noon. Their coffee latte with an added shot of espresso is good! This coffee shop will be our go-to hang-out whenever we will be in Nagoya again. The staff are super friendly and accommodating. The ambiance of the place is relaxing, not too crowded, and a few blocks away from the busy shopping area of Osu. Love...
