We visited Café La on July 4th, 2025 at 10:20 p.m., hoping to enjoy a quiet coffee before closing time. The posted schedule clearly states that the café closes at 11:00 p.m. and that last orders are accepted until 10:30 p.m. The place was completely empty, with no other customers inside, so we thought it would not be an issue to order something quickly.
However, when we tried to order, the staff member, a female who appeared to be from the United States, informed us in a very unfriendly manner that she had already cleaned the coffee machine and could not prepare anything. We then tried to order tea, but she gave us the same response: she had already cleaned up and would not serve us.
What was most disappointing was not just the refusal to serve us during the posted hours, but the attitude of the staff. From the moment we entered, she gave us a look of clear annoyance, as if we were bothering her by being there. Throughout the brief interaction, her demeanor was cold and unwelcoming, leaving no doubt that we were not wanted.
If the café does not intend to serve customers after a certain hour, they should at least update their hours on Google Maps and other platforms. Otherwise, it creates false expectations and leads to frustrating experiences for people who arrive within the stated business hours.
After this unpleasant experience, I checked the Google reviews and, to my surprise, I found that I am not the only one who has faced similar issues with both the staff’s attitude and the enforcement of opening hours. Clearly, this is not an isolated incident.
A bad experience overall. I would not recommend this place to anyone expecting even the minimum level of friendliness and respect, especially if you plan to visit near...
Read moreI’ve seen a lot of reviews about the friendly service, although when my partner and I came in we had the complete opposite experience.
We sat at the bar when one of the staff spilled a coffee directly in front of us - which is fine, mistakes happen. But instead of washing them, he then proceeded to flick the coffee off his hands all over us, our clothes and the menu we were holding without acknowledging it or even saying sorry. “I guess I’ll need to make another one” he added. Hardly an accident, very intentional.
I then ordered the chicken pesto melt. And one side of the sandwich was just pesto sauce - no chicken (photo below)
Not sure where the hostility came from? Either way it was completely uncalled for, would not recommend. Which is a shame considering it is a nice place with a good atmosphere and decent food. I guess they don’t like the look of some people. (So...
Read moreToday, I specifically walked a long way just to try their matcha. I won’t comment on the matcha itself, but I do want to mention the service of the American male staff at the counter.
I had already paid for my drink, but before leaving, I wasn’t completely sure—so I politely asked him, “I’m sorry, have I already paid for the matcha?”
Instead of a simple polite response, he looked at me confusingly and very bluntly just said “What?!” in a rude tone. I repeated the question, and he replied “Yes, you did,” but with a disgusted expression, like he couldn’t believe I even asked.
It made me feel really uncomfortable, as if I was not even allowed to double check. I don’t think it was wrong to ask, especially since I was being polite.
However, the female staff at the counter was polite, which I...
