Horrible place to eat at if you’re a tourist. My friends and I are visiting from Australia and we were craving curry. We had arrived at this place to the female worker slamming our complementary water on our table. We sensed attitude from the beginning. Further along we received our meals, she was extremely rude and seemed as if she was disgusted by our presence. I had accidentally used CLEAN chopsticks to try some pickled dish and she snatched that away and threatened to throw it away. I told her to do it since it wasn’t my issue, she had an extreme issue with that. After that she continued to bring her phone over and translate things such as “if you don’t finish your food it’s a violation” which is an understandable thing in Japan. But the way she was in our face was horrible. She seemed as if she was having a horrible day or week even. This customer service really was not acceptable. If you are not a fan of foreigners I understand. But if we are the ones bringing you business, paying your wage I suppose you start acting better than that. It was so unwelcoming as we were just minding our own business, wanting to have a good meal. She ruined the whole vibe for the rest of the day. Please do better. Fix your attitude if you want to continue your career in hospitality, that’s a main attribute you need. She made myself and friends feel extremely uncomfortable. Disgusted. Absolutely unacceptable from this young lady. Do...
Read moreOn my two week trip to Japan we visited Coco Ichiban-ya twice, and to be honest I would have liked to visit it more. It was the tastiest curry I had while in Japan. You can customize each dish to suit your taste - amount of rice, spiciness of curry and sauce base (vegetarian, pork or beef). I love spicy food and got a level 9 for spice during my first visit but that was the first time spice was not enjoyable for me😂 This time I got a level 5 and it was perfect! Less is more sometimes! I’d definitely recommend visiting this restaurant for lunch or dinner, you won’t be...
Read moreI've been eating Coco Ichiban for almost 2 decades. I've lost count of how many restaurants I've eaten at. This one is great and right next to Hankyu. Nice for when I finish work really late. My only issue is with the customers at this particular shop. Coughing without covering their mouth or blowing their noses at the seat next to you is really rude in Japan. It was a younger Japanese guy. Really gross while people are eating. Again, not the shop's fault. Usually, the types of people that go during late night are not exactly...
