Gyukatsu Motomura Namba Sub-branch — Restaurant in Osaka

I would like to highlight a job well done by one of the employees, Tatsuya-san. Long story short, I was queueing in another Gyukatsu branch nearby this store, and I had to wait for sometime (some photos attached). That until, Tatsuya approached me and 2 other customers behind me and asked us if he could bring us to another branch, which is this particular one. Obviously we said yes, and he started small conversation by asking where I come from. When I said “I’m from Indonesia” he suddenly started talking to me in FLUENT Indonesian, I couldn’t believe my ears!! I didn’t expect how well he spoke Indonesian! He explained to me how the store U visited was the smallest one and he wanted to bring me to a bigger store. I was so impressed and I even texted my boyfriend and let him know. Even he was impressed too. Tatsuya-san then told me to wait a few more minutes and within less than 15 minutes, I was able to sit in the restaurant. Tatsuya-san didn’t stop talking to me in Indonesian and I kept complimenting him on it too. He was very polite, nice, and so welcoming. Tatsuya-san, you have no idea how you made my day that time. I grinned from ear to ear and I enjoyed the food even more. I was craving for this for 4 whole years and you made this one even memorable than the previous visits. Terima kasih banyak, Tatsuya-san. Semoga kamu bisa datang ke Indonesia suatu hari nanti. Bahasa Indonesia mu bagus sekali, dan service nya juga sangat oke! Sugoi!! Kapan kapan saya pasti kembali lagi....

Gyukatsu is deep fried beef cutlet (very similar to tonkatsu) which is the pork equivalent. The cutlet is presented the same way as with tonkatsu, but there is a hot rock grill on the table so that you can cook the meat to your desired doneness. It’s hot enough that the crust crisps up even more without getting soggy from steam. The beef itself is delicious. Very flavorful and tender meat. The two dipping sauces are quite good as well, although the beef is juicy and flavorful enough on its own. The set also comes with shredded cabbage salad for which there is a tasty vinaigrette dressing in a bottle on the table. It’s also served with gohan (Japanese cooked white rice) and a small cup of miso soup. You order at the counter before sitting down and the menu is also available in English. The restaurant, though, knows what it does best and has a very limited menu. One cutlet or two, with or without shredded yam. Excellent value for the money. Friendly staff who helpfully show you how to cook the meat and refill the fuel if your fire runs out. There are two locations down the block from each other. This one is downstairs and tends to be less crowded. Both serve the exact same thing with the same level of service. A unique dining experience that’s definitely worth trying...
