Hourai — Restaurant in Osaka

Nice cozy place for ramen but not crowded at all. The owner was very welcoming and gave us an English copy of the menu. There are only a few choices of ramen that have soup but I think that’s all you need when they are done so well. There is the the pork based broth, soy sauce based, and a Taiwan dandan noodle one. There is also a ramen with no soup. The flavours are amazing and the pork meat is cut into thick pieces that have been marinated so well and are full of flavour. Arrived in Osaka from Aus desperate for some food. Hourai happened to be the closest and only open place at the time. Must have been fate, as soon as we walked in the owner was super super friendly and laid back. Food was outstanding, small menu which the owner has absolutely mastered. We had such a great time and had such great food, we returned the following day to try something else, also incredible. This place deserves recognition. Walked in off the street when hunting for a local dinner spot. Was not disappointed. Limited English but extremely friendly and attentive with an English menu when requested. Puts significant pride in his service and presentation with just one chef/owner. Dan Dan noodles and Taiwanese Maze were outstandingly flavoursome and perfect portion sizes. Authentically pleasing.
