Chisou Kuramasu — Restaurant in Osaka

We showed up as a family of 5. They give you the house rules as you sit down. Part of the rules is that they charge you per person and you have a 1 drink per person minimum. You get an appetizer that was meh at best. You don’t get a choice you must get it, it’s how they charge you the seat cover. I can live with the charge but it wasn’t well executed. The food was just blah or forgettable. To be fair this place kind of gave off the vibe of they don’t really care that much.

We had the lean tuna nigiri set, eel and tuna set, grilled fish and a special tuna donburi. Nothing was so bad that you’d wished you’d die but nothing was very good either.

Maybe if you are local the flavors are more agreeable. We’ve had better at any of the local grocery stores for loads cheaper.

The tables were a little sticky. The rice was just ok. The staff members were friendly.

$130 for some of the most average food.

I ordered a special sushi set priced at 4,960 yen and a cup of sake for 600 yen. Even with tax, the total should be 4,960 + 600 + 10% = 6,116 yen. However, the bill showed 6,688 yen. When I asked the owner why the price was different from the menu, he said it was a service charge. That explanation seemed ridiculous—do sushi restaurants really expect customers to pay an extra fee for the chef’s labor on top of the listed price? I was initially in a good mood because the food was great, but the unexpected service charge completely ruined...

I visited this sushi restaurant with a local friend; it was an amazing experience. The owner was very welcoming, even though I speak hardly any Japanese. He was friendly, talkative and gave great suggestions throughout the meal - you can really tell he is a genuine person who loves food.

Everything was incredibly fresh and delicious. I even tried whale for the first time and became a fan! From the salad to the sashimi to the nigiri, every dish was fantastic.

The atmosphere was warm, the space was very clean, and overall it felt like a place that cares about both the food and the guests. I am looking forward to coming here again. Highly...
