Absolute blast to be dining here. The owner is a real nice chap and the staff genuinely want to be there.
This pizza place is like the crowning jewel in the entire district where theres lots of American influence with vintage clothing and even old US Army uniforms to be bought in one of the 2nd Hand Vintage Clothes Shops.
You can order a slice or the whole thing and they will make it on the spot, no table charge, free water, clean toilet. Theres not much else to ask or expect.
Get the pepperoni pizza, it’s amazing, really takes me back to some of my trips overseas many moons ago. If you like Italian style pizza, then i suggest maybe you should visit somewhere else because this store is not that. We selected to dine here because of the lack of table charge which the other 2 Italian style pizza restaurants charges and we just wanted a quick dine-and-go.
Pretty certain the owner didn’t exactly think that he would be running this for so long as theres a sign on the wall stating that Its been one year and we ain’t dead yet 😂
What a gem! I wish you and your shop...
Read moreWonderful little pizza place down an unassuming street. The kind of place you might not find if you weren’t looking specifically for it - Though I’m telling you, you should be. The cozy aesthetic paired with the delightful and accommodating warmth of Hughesy and his partner fosters the perfect atmosphere.
As for the food itself I ordered a slice of each (Which were not small by any measure!) of the four pizzas on offer when I arrived: Maitake, Pepperoni, Regular and Hawaiian Special. My personal favourite was the Special, but you really won’t be able to go wrong. Everything offered here was absolutely delicious. Garlic knots were a treat too. It was difficult making the decision to do anything but sit here and stuff my face all day!
In terms of price I thought it was incredibly reasonable. 2x Garlic Knots, 4x Slices of Pizza and 2x Drinks for a grand total of ¥3,685. A price I would be more than happy to pay again. I certainly wasn’t left hungry.
All in all, a must visit if you even remotely enjoy pizza. My only lament is that I don’t live close enough to...

Randomly found this place online before my trip to Japan and really wanted to stop by. Located in a quieter residential area in Osaka, it's definitely a bit tucked away, but there's usually a cute pizza sign pointing the way.
The restaurant is cozy with just a few tables, and we were immediately welcomed in by the owner and shown all the pizzas on offer. Unlike a lot of other pizza joints around the country, Hughes has very authentic, thin-crust American style pizza that was a perfect way to get a taste of home when abroad. Self serve drinks from the fridge were a nice touch, and the garlic knots were absolutely wonderful.
The owner himself is extremely kind and chatted with us throughout our meal to get to know us and explain a bit about how Hughes Pizza started.
They have a small selection of merch in the corner that I just had to pick up on my way out. I can't wait to make it back over to grab a few...
