I recently had the pleasure of dining at Diwali Restaurant in Osaka, and it was a wonderful experience that reminded me of authentic Indian flavours back home. The ambience of the restaurant is warm and inviting, with decor that reflects Indian culture yet blends nicely with the cosmopolitan feel of Osaka. The staff was very courteous, attentive and made us feel comfortable right from the moment we entered.
The food was the true highlight of the evening. I tried their, butter paneer, dal makhani and naan, along with masala chai to finish the meal. Every dish was well prepared, flavourful and carried the real taste of Indian spices without being overpowering. The butter paneer was rich and creamy, while the dal makhani tasted just like traditional slow-cooked dal. The naan was soft and fresh, perfect for pairing with the curries. Portion sizes were generous, and the presentation was neat and appealing.
What impressed me most was the consistency of taste and the effort to keep the food authentic while also catering to international diners. Overall, Diwali is an excellent place for anyone in Osaka craving genuine Indian food. I would happily recommend it to both locals...
Read moreI don't often eat at Indian restaurants in Japan, but this place so far exceeded my expectations! The place was spotless and kind of trendy looking. The portions were large, and prices were around the same as other international restaurants in Osaka. Mostly, the food was tasty and fresh and seemed to be made with care.
The saag paneer was different than the million saags I've had before - less rich and salty, and more heavy on the spices. It didn't come with rice and we weren't asked, so that was interesting.
The kashmiri naan was amazing. Stuffed with coconut. I didn't expect this to be so fresh and tasty. I'd come back just for this.
The curry dinner set was around 1500jpy but included an absolutely enormous plain naan, a fresh salad, rice (the only disappointing part - it was Japanese rice, not basmati), and a drink (we chose mango lassi of course). You also get a small piece of chicken tikka and some Indian pickles. For the curry we chose keema curry. Everything was delicious.
Be aware that when you choose medium spicy, it's legit spicy - NOT weak...

Its their special preparation and taste extremely good. Staff is very friendly and they will give you a warm welcome and service. I will recommend to go there for dinner as lunch time is busy for them but in the evening they take special care of you.
