This is my first time here. It's a 3-minute walk from Minamimorimachi Station on the Tanimachi Subway Line and Osaka Tenmangu Station on the JR Tozai Line. There are about 10 counter seats and some table seats in the spacious restaurant. This time, I ordered the special Kurotora ramen and char-siu pork & egg rice bowl. Kurotora soup is based on pork bones, with burnt garlic and back fat, making it a black soup. The special toppings are seaweed, seasoned egg, and three slices of char-siu pork. The savory flavor of the burnt garlic whets the appetite, and it combines with the pork bone soup to create a rich flavor. The roasted pork is soft but has a light bite, and is delicious and flavorful when you chew it. The seasoned egg is half-boiled and perfect. The char-siu pork & egg rice bowl is just the right amount to eat as a flavor change for the ramen. The raw egg, green onion, char-siu pork, soy sauce, and white rice go perfectly together. If you're looking for pork bone ramen in this area, this is the...

I ordered tonkotsu ramen with medium thickness noodles and extra cha shu (and they gave me A LOT)
The cha shu is sliced really thick and is super tender and a little fatty. The texture of the noodles was perfect. The broth was actually relatively light for a tonkotsu (in a good way) and not overly heavy and salty like tonkotsu can sometimes be.
For toppings it’s a nice gooey marinated egg, wood-ear mushrooms and negi. I would have liked menma but I understand that’s not a universal topping.
Finally the service staff were really nice (and at least one of them speaks pretty good English). I came in at 10.45pm just before they closed and they were still really nice, helping confirm my order, gave me a nice compliment on the t-shirt I was wearing and even followed me out to farewell me as I left.
Some high end ramen places can be very pretentious but this place has a homely...
Read moreWe went searching for ramen and the place we selected was closed. We stumbled upon this place and were so glad that we did. We tried the "plain" and spicy broths. I love spicy food, and this spicy broth was good. However, the "plain" broth is next level. The spicy broth masked the rich creaminess of the plain broth.
The usual accompaniments (egg and chasiu) were cooked perfectly, and the free vegetables offered at the table were unexpectedly delicious too.
The real star is the plain broth. I don't usually drink all of my ramen broth, but I had to finish this one off. It would have been a shame not to. I highly recommend...
