Kani Doraku (Amimoto Honkan) — Restaurant in Osaka

Ok, if I am not mistaken, this is a chained restaurant. However, this particular one is pretty special because all tables are inside a private room and they have several floors full of these private rooms!

All the rooms are in a traditional Japanese setup, the atmosphere is fantastic. All waitresses wear kimono. When you enter, you will be asked to change into their provided indoor shoes, and eventually take it off before you enter your assigned private room.

Ordering was not too bad. There is no tablet but they provide english menu, also the staff can communicate in english although I still tried to speak some Japanese to show my respect to their lovely culture (and it feels more authentic!).

Once they gave you the menu and explained how it works, they will leave you alone until you pick up the phone in the room which will be picked up by a staff and then they will come in to take orders.

We ordered 2x kids meals (which btw was very good value), 2x華set, 2x松風set. Now, the food wise I would not say they are absolutely amazing, I would say I have had better crab (like, cooked right after catching it from the sea back in AU) but for a chained restaurant and with such amazing atmosphere, we enjoyed the experience from the beginning to the end! (Of coz it is also because we did not order their most expensive food options)

It is an amazing dinner night and we would definitely come back next time and try some other kind...

"Crabsolutely amazing! 🦀 This place is a crab lover's paradise! The seafood was incredibly fresh, especially the sashimi—it melted in my mouth! The broiled and barbequed options were equally delicious.

The atmosphere was cozy and elegant, perfect for a special night out. The staff was attentive and even arranged a private room for our elderly companions, which was a thoughtful touch.

The only minor hiccup was the pacing of the dishes. We barely had time to savor the first course before the second arrived. But hey, that's a small price to pay for such a fantastic meal!

Strongly recommended for its great food and services. We had a private room for 2 of us, I made booking via the online website. We had the 淡雪 set for 1 pax only as hubby and I are small eaters - all the crab dishes brings out the sweet and freshness in different ways. The meal ended with the heartwarming porridge which was perfect. We added on a tempura, which was good but not really worth it as I didn’t taste the sweetness as much as other styles of cooking. Service by this lady hirosei san was superb, despite knowing minimal english! And yes be prepared to pay but everything is transparent on the website so you are not in...
